You can't just... just put me somewhere! I like it in Lhant, with Asbel, and that's where I'm going to stay! I don't want to visit some strange city, or castle, or... or wherever. You can't just decide these things on your own! Grandpa would be worried sick. I'd worry everybody...

I- I mean, these places might be interesting, but I'd much rather stay with Asbel...... [ She trails off for a second, then seems to pick up steam again. ] And besides, there's my health to consider. I don't think it would be good for me to end up alone in some place I don't know.

... Hm. [she's silent for just a moment. did someone allude to being in a bit of a pickle regarding health? and being sent somewhere regardless? fumi likes.] Sounds like an opportunity.

An... opportunity? [ She sounds confused. ] How is it an opportunity?

[she sighs.] It's a chance to test the parameters of the effects a change in environment has on one's physical and mental wellbeing. [honestly, what else would she mean?]

I'm... not really sure I understood all of that. [ Where's Hubert when you need him...? ]

Alternate realities and spontaneous transportation to realms that exist outside one's own are the perfect basis for neurobiological experimentation. The data that's hidden within all those separate worlds must be incredible... [if she wasn't really, really fond of the idea, she'd probably be annoyed right now. cheria gets off easy.]

I suppose "interesting" is one way to describe Paradisa... And you needn't really worry about your friends. Time stops in our worlds as long as we're in the castle.

I've never been in a castle before. My friends and I were supposed to go visit Richard's, but... [ She trails off. That would be right around the time she's pulled from. ]

But how does time just stop? That doesn't make any sense at all. [ Says the girl who will someday learn Za Warudo. ]

It's a bit difficult to explain. But I know that it happens, because I've been in the castle a number of times.

[ailing]

That's just... so unbelievable. [ She's so weirded out that she doesn't even say it "un-believable" either. ] Not that I think you're lying! It's just hard to imagine.

Yes, it is. I wouldn't believe it myself if I didn't personally meet people from my world who are from earlier in time than I am.

[ailing]

Wait, you mean that.... I could meet people I know there? And they could be younger than me? [ No, Cheria, in your case they'd be older. But whatever. ]

It's certainly possible. Or they could be older. We haven't figured out why it does that yet, but we will.

I want my Asbel. But he probably won't be there at all, will he?

I'm sorry, I haven't heard anyone named Asbel come to the castle. But that doesn't mean he won't show up later! I've noticed how people from common worlds either arrive together or come within short times of each other's arrivals.

And you may end up making new friends along the way.

[ailing]

So... so if I go there, Asbel might follow me? [ Did she get that right? ]

It's possible... But don't be too disappointed if he takes a while.

Oh.... [ Now she just sounds disappointed. ]

[and here's a guy with huge black wings, glancing rather bored.]

So what will you do?

I...... [ She pauses. And she's looking at those wings. ] Wait. Are... are those real?

[ She sounds suitably impressed and curious. She's a kid, what do you expect? ]

[shinythings]

[he glances over his shoulder as those wings flap once]

Of course. Why wouldn't they be?

[ailing]

That's amazing! I didn't know people could have wings.

[shinythings]

You have no demons where you are from?

[ailing]

D-demons? [ Suddenly she seems much more hesitant. ] I.... No? I don't think so.

[and he still looks as disinterested as ever]

Most of them are good at staying out of sight.

[ailing]

Well, we have monsters? But none of them look like people.

[shinythings]

[a slight tilt of his head at her. Monsters, demons, youkai. Might be the same thing.]

It's easier to blend in. [and those wings disappear. Now he just looks like a normal grumpy guy.]

[ailing]

[ And now she seems impressed again! Jeez girl make up your mind. ] Oh, wow! You can make them disappear, too?

[shinythings]

[he's not going to bother answering that.]

Less troublesome, especially in towns.

I can imagine. I can't even tell you're any different now.

[grumble] That's the idea.

Tell me about these monsters of yours.

[ailing]

Oh, okay. Well, there's not much to tell, really. [ She pauses a moment to think. Everybody knows about monsters where she's from, so she's... never had to explain them before. ] They live outside of town and in caves, places like that, and they attack people. They're not like humans at all, more like animals. And I don't think any of them are actually intelligent.

[shinythings]

[listening intently.]

Different from what I know, then. [a pause, and he continues dryly] At least when it comes to intelligence - though I've met my fair share of idiots.

[ailing]

Yes. Your demons sound much different.
