Shepard... [He'll inhale, letting out a shaky breath.]
It hurts not being able to go with you, but... but I know you had to do it. I would have just slowed you down. Can't help but wish that I could have been there with you in the end though.
It's not really something I can control, having to watch the choices you had to make. Over and over, it's not fair that you had to give up so much, Shepard... but then anyone else might have done it wrong.
I don't know if I could have done that, if it had been me.
[She gave up everything to make sure everyone else got out okay. To make sure the children and the families got to live and continue their lives. It was a sacrifice she was willing to make. It was her choice.]
I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to have this burden, Kaidan. [If burden was even the correct term.]
[Okay, Shepard you win. That gets a pathetic sounding small laugh from the major, and even then Kaidan can't help but smile at her. Felt good to talk with Shepard again, it was a nice perk about this place.]
You're pretty amazing that way, overcoming so much.
I let go years ago the first time, can't say it'll be as easy this time around. [Always that small bit of hope, Garrus. That Shepard was okay, that Shepard would just waltz onto the Normandy like they didn't just sacrifice them self to save all life in the galaxy.]
I never said it was easy and I doubt we'll ever forget Shepard but, there still is a chance. It's small but it's there and you never know, besides, Shepard always seems to turn up at the very last moment.
