... I recommend that you perhaps be gentler towards yourself, instead of bringing on the recriminations.
You say you do not feel like you've lost anyone's voice; that, I think, is the only real worry here. Your situation being what it is, I would point out that by merely observing general trends and the available facts, the conclusion would be that hitting rough patches are a statistical possibility.
And no matter your, or my, issues, Starscream is enough of a distraction for both of us...
However; I don't exactly approve of one of the situations lately... Just because you have the icons, does not mean you have to use them.
[Disapproving jet is disapproving, even if it's merely expressed with a frown and crossed arms. The mundane can't convince him it's "for science", since that has not been the reason to try those icons out at all. :|]

[Well, yes, when you're dealing with Cybertronians as often as Sam is, getting used to their hands is probably a good idea.]
Truly, no. And Starscream was never the most... careful, about expressing his, which inevitably means retaliation from Megatron.

[Oh, you guys, always with your bizarre curiosities. It's kind of endearing, really, as long as it's not a Decepticon inquiring about, oh, taking out his brain or his E-Bay user name.]
Huh. Did he have circuits cut or does he just never learn?
no subject
... Starscream's stubborn. And when someone's convinced they're right and has the right of it, sometimes they simply will not back down.
No matter how logical it would be to do so, or better for personal health to stop; I suppose it depends on what one deems most important.
[Shrug. Starscream's stubbornness, arrogance and desires all conspire against him, and also drives him on. Jetfire may not understand why, but he knows the factors and has accepted them.]
no subject
It's one of very few things he has going for him.
At the explanation, he rubs his jaw with a hand, looking thoughtful. It's a strange look on him, truly.]
So...he's a dick?
no subject
... Considering that he's not a human male, and thus not in possession of said appendage, and even you can't be considered to be what you merely poessess as a limb and as part of your body...
[That is, he doesn't understand what you're saying, Sam. :D]
no subject
...
God damn you, giant robots!]
It's a saying. He's, uh. A jerk, how's that?
no subject
... Ah, I see.
[And he's totally. not smiling a little.]
Starscream was never the most agreeable mech, no. It's part of what makes him interesting.
[Yes, Jetfire just said that.]
no subject
Interesting. Yeah, I guess. When you're on the receiving end of Megatron's wrath, though, he goes from "interesting" to "totally freaking terrifying oh my God" in less than two seconds.
no subject
Mm, yes. Megatron, while he had some interesting ideas and philosophies, have a temper few could match... And a viciousness to match his temper.
He can be quite intimidating, yes.
[Especially for tiny organics like humans.]
no subject
[Especially a brain, among other things. Amazing what can be contained in a sock, isn't it just?]
So...how'd you get out of there anyway, with them?
no subject
[Ruthlessness, or effectivity, letting nothing stop you to get what you wanted... or needed. It had seemed practical, once.]
... I left. No one exactly expected it, despite the fact that I had hesitated quite long before joining, so it wasn't hard to literally just walk away... Or fly, in my case.
[Personally, however, it had been hard. Close friendships and the loyalties to them, and all that.]
no subject
And...no one got sent after you? They weren't worried you'd give up all sorts of secret information to Optimus? They didn't track you down to the ends of the universe or anything?
no subject
I'm fast, Sam, and I had a head-start. It wasn't exceedingly hard to hide on Cybertron until I could safely approach the Autobots.
And it took a while before I engaged in battle against them... or, ah. Was trusted with a lot.
[Of course, that "trust" part took even longer to come even after he was given missions and orders and involved in things.]
no subject
You mean before the Autobots trusted you to really be on their side?
no subject
[Jetfire's subdued; that's still something of a... not so much sore subject as still something that lingers. He's not the only one to have switched sides, to date.]
no subject
Guy bot.
Got.]
Well, things are better now, yeah?
no subject
Well, considering I managed to get myself frozen for... a currently unknown length of time, Starscream unthawed me and I was, again, not completely trusted by the Autobots already on Earth...
Besides that, I suppose so.
[And ignoring that he either died, or, going by non-published canon, was possessed by the Fallen... well. Maybe better, yes.]
no subject
[Yes, Sam is in museboxes with three different Cybertronians. Only one of them is anything like pleasant.
Guess who it is.]
no subject
It seems to be something of a theme, yes. As long as I could get confirmation from more than one other alternate, that is.
Two within a possibly-infinite number of alternates does not make a trend, neither by common nor scientific standards.
no subject
Maybe it's a thing with "fire" in the name?
[Freezing fire. HAHA GOOD ONE SAM but he's not going to laugh because that's too tactless. Fight fire with...ice. Interesting concept.
Oh hey he notices he said something uncool (kind of a first, but also LOL COOL frozen fire) and stands up, putting a hand out to touch the nearest part of his frame.
Keep your spark in your chest thing, buddy.]
Hey, I didn't mean to...uh. Be a jerk.
no subject
It's fine. I'll have to learn to handle it at some point, but it's unpleasant enough to have happened to one of us, nevermind two, or more.
[Sam gets a small smile for his honest effort and a slight straightening and shurg.]
no subject
Yeah...that's what happened to Megatron where I'm from. Though for, uh, like fifty years or something, not...ages.
no subject
... That would have been vastly preferable to the... at least millions of years I had to deal with.
[He's not... exactly... sure, since his internal chronometer glitched at some point.]
no subject
Yeah...millions of years is a really long time. Apparently dinosaurs became birds and some fish thing became humans in that time, or something.
no subject
It's not too bad. As long as you're not trapped in ice and preiodically aware of it. I have been around for a few more million years than the ones I was trapped, after all.
[Yes, still older than dirt, so to speak. It just doesn't make him... old.]
