On Bete Noire moving to DW
[Cassandra dances around in slow circles, waving her tattered dress. She sings brightly.]
O, come with the joy of thy festival song,
O, come to the goddess, O, mix with our throng
Untired, though the journey be never so long.
O Lord of the frolic and dance, lacchus, beside me advance!
Yes, I realize we're not exactly maenads, but it does seem like occasion to celebrate, does it not? New opportunities ought to be embraced, I should think.
Well, why should I argue with you, anyway? I always lose, don't I?
[She laughs a cold, stale laugh.]
I wonder if anyone from the family will find me here. Wouldn't that be a laugh? I doubt they'd even recognize me. What fun I could have with them! How I could scandalize.
For fun, and for cheapness, our dress thou hast rent,
Through thee we may dance to the top of our bent,
Reviling, and jeering, and none will resent.
