[ Someone is working through a book of spells, casting them alphabetically so that she can memorize them better. ]

I've barely gotten to the "d"s. What is it you want? [ Her hair is pulled back into a messy ponytail and she looks disgruntled. ] Please speak quickly. The NEWTs are very important to me. If I do well on them, I can work just about anywhere I want.

[ Tucking her wand in her hair, Lily stretches her arms over her head, doing her best not to look too worried. ]

I've spent nearly seven years proving that Muggleborns are every bit as good as Halfbloods or Purebloods. If I flunk the NEWTs, you can practically say good-bye to all of the work I've done.

I won't let that happen. [ She fixes her intense gaze on her Mun. ] Right now, nothing is more important than that.

I better not. [ Startled pause. ] ...Potter?

[He smiles a bit, looking down for a moment.] A Potter, yes. Harry Potter.

[ She looks at him closer. ] A relation of James's, I take it?

Yeah, um, his son.

A son...

that is the same age as him? [ Magic is amazing, but this might be too much to take in. ]

Time... doesn't really seem to matter here so much. I, um, I met my own son here once. Dad was, um, twenty when I was born.

Oh? [ That...almost makes sense.

Almost. But she knows she can probably blame this on her Mun, so... ] The Potter I know is 17. I bet he'll be quite full of himself [Even more so.] when he hears he has a son in three years.

From what I know, when he and my Mum got together, it sort of settled him a bit.

It's hard to imagine that happening, but I guess if he really loved her...

So, um, [He is really biting back the urge to just call her mum. She's the third Lily he's met, and the other two had come from the night she died. So they had actually known about him.] tell me about yourself? There's, um, not a lot I know about you and I'd like to.

Why do you want to know about me? [ She senses something's...off. ] Does James talk about me?

Well... everyone really... tells me little bits about you.

[greeneyedoe]

Everyone...? [ Perplexed doesn't cover it. ] I didn't know I was that important.

In, um, in respect to me, you are. [There's no avoiding it.] See, you... were my Mum.

[ That's the second time someone has told her that and...

She's starting to worry. ]

I'm really not...fond of him. [ Does that change? ] He has been trying to get me to go out with him for years, but his attitude... [ She grimaces. ]

It... apparently changes quite a bit in the next year or so.

It would have to if I have his...son... [ Lily sits down and runs her fingers through her hair, undoing her ponytail. ] This must be strange for you. I'm sorry.

[He takes a seat as well, his eyes on her still.] No, it's... well, there have been stranger things.

[greeneyedoe]

Like what? [ She meets his gaze, her expression slightly troubled. ]

[Albus Severus comes to mind.] A ruined city that is its own dimension and kidnaps people to it, a version of New York City that's in some massive cave and run by what are probably demons, surviving the Killing Curse twice. [That last one comes rather quickly.] Things like that.

[greeneyedoe]

[ She reaches out and squeezes his arm. ]

I knew Muns could be cruel, but that -

You shouldn't be around them anymore. [ Only Lily would kidnap Harry in order to save him. ] Can you get away?

Not at the moment, no. The city prevents people from leaving and the rulers of New York... well, they didn't react very well the last time I organized an escape attempt. Besides, I wouldn't feel right escaping from New York without the others who are stuck there.

That's awfully selfless of you, but if you could get out, you might be able to sneak help back in. Then everyone could be saved.

That's certainly an idea.

You don't seem like the sort that would give up just because someone told you to.

[He laughs and shakes his head.] No, I'm not. I'm... really quite stubborn about some things.

[greeneyedoe]

We might be related after all. [ Heaven knows she's stubborn to a fault. ]

Only might, huh? [He grins at her. The eyes tell a lot, after all.]

[greeneyedoe]

[ Speaking of eyes, she plucks off his glasses and smirks at his eyes. ]

That blonde brat had a point. We do have the same eyes.

[crux_ofmylife]

Oi! [He laughs but reaches out for his glasses.] Yeah, except I've got Dad's vision to go along with them.

Which blonde brat?

[greeneyedoe]

I just wanted to see! [ She hands them back to him, grinning. ] Poor thing. I've seen him lose his glasses before. It's not pretty.

Draco Lucius Malfoy. [ She even manages to copy Draco's tone. ] I called him Drake and he called me Mudblood. Truly pleasant.

[He laughs, trying to imagine that one.]

Oh, yeah, he's right pleasant. Father's a Death Eater. Although I'll give his mum credit. She stood up to and turned on Voldemort over Draco. Although I suspect it wasn't the only thing, he was still what she was concerned about. [He went through all of that a week or so ago. He's still processing everything.]
