I wouldn't mind a family member up here with me, mundane. There's so many to choose from, however, that I'm afraid I can't help. I might be a bit biased, and I'd hate to influence your decision one way or the other.

Grandmother!

[Artemis is very glad to see her. She's had a very bad week so far. Hence why she's wandering about as a girl-child rather than an adult as normal.]

[Oh goodness gracious! It's been so long since she's seen her beautiful granddaughter as anything but a lovely young goddess that it shocks her.

But she squats immediately to put her arms out and whisk her off her feet.]

Artemis! Come here, darling.

[It's been a very hard week. She doesn't often indulge herself in changing her form - that's more her father's game than her - and normally reserves it for speaking to her younger attendants.

All the same, she can't quite help herself from going to her grandmother's arms. No matter how old she is, she won't be able to stop herself from enjoying her company. She wraps her arms around the goddess without hesitation though.]

[Uh-oh. Something is wrong here, she doesn't need to be of intellect to pick up on that much. Instead of pulling her up, Phoebe simply sits on the ground with her and cradles her as she cradled her when she was newborn.]

I find myself troubled.

My purpose has be quarreled in my current place of being. A mortal claims me not a goddess and defames me. [She rests her head against Phoebe's shoulder without a second thought.] I merely expressed wish to have my privacy respected and for mortals not to ... do as they do near my campsite.

I wish to go home to Olympus where I belong.

[She puts her hand to her forehead, fingers moving through her long, rowdy hair as she listens.]

You mean to say you are in a game?

Yes. There are mortals and other gods and all sorts of people. They call it a city of sin.

[It's not too far off to say that any city with her family in it would be sinful, but Artemis as a child is certainly troubling.]

A mortal has claimed you are a not a goddess—why then have you not shown her that the aim of your bow and arrow is true and steadfast?

I cursed him so that he could speak no longer, I hoped to teach him a lesson in the proper way to talk to goddesses. It began with him speaking foul words to offend my honor. Apollo seeks revenge for us both.

It seems also that the mortals do not fear me. They believe me to be a magic user, not a deity.

You are aware, lovely one, that much time has passed since you were worshiped, do you not? We are now myths, legends—nothing more than fairy tales. If you can accept that, you will find living among mortals far more tolerable.

[It's disheartening to hear that and she's glad she shifted forms. Sadness is less acceptable in adults.]

I do not want to be worshipped, Grandmother. I wish to help mortals that I can there. But they make it difficult. They act in vulgar manners. They have no respect. Even if I were a mortal woman, asking another to stop saying offensive things wouldn't be bad. But they make me to be a villain as I had the power to stop myself from having hear such vulgarity.

[She's with Grandmother now; she doesn't need to worry about she looks, sounds, or says.]

How do they make you a villain, dear heart? What have you done that they would accuse you so?

I sealed his mouth shut until he apologises for his crudity. I did not shoot him or strike him down as was my right as a daughter of Zeus.

So you seal a man's mouth shut, and you are heralded a villain?

[Grandmother might be a little irked right now, but she's concealing it.]

And what was his crudity? Was it befitting he should fall before your arrow, were you being merciful in only quieting his mouth?

He first scoffed at my patronships, I was merciful. He implied that I should engage in [She can't quite to bring herself to say it] impure activity, I was merciful but I asked him to stop. He then sent me literature of a scandalous nature. That is when I warned him. He continued such vulgar speech and so I sealed his mouth so I would hear the words no more. I offered to undo it if he but apologised.

It was after I sealed his mouth that he defamed me to the population. When I confronted him as to it he claimed I, myself, am not a goddess and that if I were that I was to be an outdated one.

[Phoebe has certainly mastered the art of keeping her emotions off her face, of remaining neutral whenever possible, but hearing these things from her beautiful grandchild is...well, it's not very pleasant.]

Perhaps you ought to avoid him from now on. And, if he seeks you out and continues to slander you, you will be even more blameless. It will show that he is the one with the issue at large, and it will make him look foolish if you simply ignore him and he persists.

I do not think Apollo is going to leave him.

He wants him dead for the dishonour that he served me.

Artemis. Darling. Dear one. Long past are the days of your glory, of the days of Niobe and her children and you being properly justified to slay from the sky. To kill him is meaningless, for he may very well return. Take the higher road, as you were born to, and leave him to his insufferable misery.

I fully intend to once he apologises for the insult he caused. My brother is not so easily swayed. He is intent. I fear it will take more than me to prevent him from causing harm to the mortal.
