Why not?
You're going through with this, then? My dear boy... I can't impress on you just how much I'd prefer to stay quiet. You shouldn't be taking yourself away from your other characters, in all their different, and quite dreadful, situations.
And don't tempt me with crystallized pineapple and the chance to get to know bright, promising young stars! I know quite a lot already, yes, quite a lot, and trying to trick me like that is naive. Dreadfully naive and shamelessly taking advantage of a poor old man just because you've read a book or two where he plays a not-inconsiderable role.
Which I am not proud of and I'll thank you to forget.

omg i totally just laughed out loud
Remus, Horace. Remus Lupin. Friend of James and Lily Potter, and their son, Harry.
[That's all he can think of that Slughorn would really remember. Almost like giving him titles, really.]

[The mental math is obvious, like a clicking abacus. Friend of James? Not terribly important, he's quite dead. Friend of Lily's, well, she's also quite dead, but much harder to let go. Friend of Harry's, all to the good, of course! But werewolf, yes, he distinctly remembers that now, and that's quite bad.]

Yes, one in the same. I taught Defense Against the Dark Arts '93-'94 school year. I also took Potions with you when I was in school, though I wasn't as good as them as Lily was. We were both Prefects. Do you remember now?
[Yes, and a werewolf, and that's quite bad, he'd agree with that much.]
