You're not apping me anywhere. I'm just not... c'mon, I'm not even interesting. And honestly, the options, I dunno, they're just bad. Torture facilities? Messed up libraries? Apocalyptic Vegas?

[A sigh.]

Just get me out of your system, y'know, somewhere else.

What's so messed up about the libraries?

Monsters... going into other worlds... that sort of thing.

[He shrugs.]

I guess I could probably handle it.

And, uh, the Vegas place...doesn't have any of those?

I mean, I guess...I could handle it too, but if I had the choice... I think I'd rather not have to deal with monsters at all.

I think it has monsters sometimes. Mostly it makes you go crazy, though. And you have to, y'know, have sex there.

[He pauses.]

But it's all kinda pointless anyway. My mun already has, uh... uh... Andrew Ryan in the library place. So I'm not going there.

You have to... Wait, what?

[He's not hung up on that for too long, though, before the next part makes him frown.] Small blessings.

Yeah. It's... bad.

[He nods.]

I guess. All of it makes me nervous. What about you? Where are you?

Well, I— I don't know, I mean... Compared to the monsters... [Wait, this isn't an avenue of conversation he really wants to go down.]

Uh. [Cough.] I, uh. I'm in this place called the City. It's not so bad, except whenever the curses hit...which can be every other day, it seems like.

Curses? That sounds kinda like this other place... the Facility. Except that's more like... experiments.

[A frown.]

Do you have... friends in the City? I guess if I went somewhere, maybe I'd make friends.

Experiments? [Urgh.] No, I wouldn't... They're not that bad. Usually.

[That question, though... He rubs the back of his neck.]

Yeah. Not all of them are friendly, but... I've got friends.

I'd ask what the curses are usually like but... that can be tough to talk about, I guess.

[A nod.]

I don't really have any. Friends, I mean.

I don't know about that. Sometimes they're not bad at all, but other times... [Well, it certainly wasn't fun being followed around by the ghost of Andrew Ryan this past weekend. That time he spent in the desert isn't exactly a fond memory, either.]

Well... Maybe wherever you end up, you'll find some. [Hopefully.]

Maybe. I hope so. It's kinda... dull being stuck nowhere.

It is a little better than the alternative. [Admittedly.]

Still... Even if you end up somewhere horrible, at least having friends will make it bearable.

Is there anyone... uh, from Rapture, where you are?

No. [Thank god.] There was for a little while, but...she left a long time ago.

Oh... Who was it?

A girl named Eleanor. [He thinks.] We, uh... We didn't talk that much.

Oh... I don't know anything about her. I guess I never met her.
