You're right. Everyone is born different. Some can crush the earth and twist metal. Others can conjure flames from thin air. Others can heal wounds and surf across the sea. Others can glide across the sky like birds...

Others can do none of those.

This is not equality. Do not pretend it is so.

Sometimes when things get tough and disaster strikes, don't benders come to the aid of the non-benders? What if a rock comes falling down on some people? Who's going to stop that rock from killing those people?

Machines, such as those designed by my ally Hiroshi Sato. The way of the bender has become obsolete; there is nothing useful a bender can do that cannot be replicated by technology.

We will build the future with our own hands and minds, not with unnatural powers that should never have been ours.
