all the mutant feels at [community profile] lastvoyages

Yes, it was a little discouraging to hear that some people apparently find wanting to prevent potential genocide a "dumb argument" for wanting to help Erik make some progress here, but it's just a temporary set back. [This doesn't make Erik right. The Barge isn't a good sample of humanity, it brings out the worst in everyone, and he isn't walking away from the cause because of a few people.]

I understand why people are jumping to conclusions, and I am emotionally invested. Probably more than I should be, as long as we're being honest. But this isn't just a question of what's best for Erik. It's what's best for everyone, on the Barge and at home, and I do wish more people would understand that.

... And no, I'm not thrilled to hear you're enjoying watching this spiral out of control. This place is supposed to help people, and I think it's safe to say that's the exact opposite of what's happening here. And while Erik completely losing control might finally show everyone I was right? [And now he allows himself to sound a little defeated:] I really don't want to be, this time.

Oh? And what if I need it to live.

[ Not strictly untrue, when you think of it. ]

That would be difficult to justify, seeing as your little adventure has yet to trickle down to the lowly inmates you're so quick to speak for.

Oh, I'm sure.
