You know, being around these past few weeks, I've noticed something. And even if some of them think I'm a little outdated, it's nice to see people still believe in superheros. I know there are a lot of them running around here at the moment, but I don't think there can ever be too much hope in this world. And if people are inspired by the example of others doing good, well, I can't see anything wrong with that.

It's a start. It's better than if they didn't help.

Let me ask you something. You ever wonder if maybe, just maybe, some of those 'evil people' Superman and Batman and Wonder Woman are busy beating up aren't that evil after all? I'm not talking about the Luthors and the Jokers. I'm talking about people who just got in over their heads. People who had normal lives and normal homes, and then something happened and they lost it all and suddenly they're fighting with people who think they're doing the right thing.

I know for a fact that that's happened. And that's why, for instance, Lois and I try to get to the bottom of things. We work with Superman to make sure people don't get punished who don't deserve it. We've gotten people exonerated. So has Superman.

Let me ask you something. Should someone like Superman not use his powers at all? Should he be locked up, because he happens to be able to do things humans can't?

I don't know. There's people who say that Superman's a threat to national security and he could kill us all. Then there's people who say if he let himself be studied we could all have his powers. I don't know about all that. That's all over my pay grade. I haven't met Superman yet, and if I'm lucky I'll never have to.

And who's Lois? Better yet, who are you?

My name's Clark Kent. I'm a reporter--Lois is my partner. And I know Superman. I know that he probably could do a lot of damage, but he doesn't. I also know that he's an alien so it's kind of unlikely his powers could be given to everyone.

I know "he's not going to hurt anyone" isn't very reassuring to a lot of people. But he hasn't been a threat. And it would be just as unfair to lock him up for what he might do as you accuse him of being.

Well, it's not like anyone could lock him up anyway, so it's kind of a moot point. But yeah, it;'s not really fair i guess. I don't believe in locking anyone up, but I get what people want to. Alien powers are a little easier to give out than you'd think.
