I see. [the flatness of his voice, though, indicates that he is not impressed] The idea doesn't appeal to me. Aside from the obvious, I'm sure there are hidden catches in there.

You mean offering up my blood to you? To see what would happen.

Partly that. I also wanted to know why you chose to become a vampire at all. [he chuckles] Did I disappoint?

I didn't exactly choose, my sister turned me. Not that it's really a bad life.

[She shrugs a little.]

Not really I both did and didn't know what was going to happen.

It's hardly the sort of thing you would want to be forced into. I take it that would be why you offered me the opportunity rather than simply forcing it upon me?

Exactly. Just because we can turn people into the walking dead at will doesn't mean we should all the time. Next thing I know the Camarilla would start taking up residence here just to stop me.

[silvery]

[At least she seems to be a vampire with morals of some sort- not that he cares much about the specifics of those, but it makes her easier to predict] "Camarilla"- they would be?

[VERY VERY VERY loose morals but yes. Any vampire with half a brain knows not to turn mortals willy nilly.]

The big vampire government. Well one of the three and two out of the three are jerks all of the time.

[He laughs.] It's nice to see that some things don't change between life and death. There isn't a government in history that hasn't been corrupted to the core.

[goldenly]

Well, at least you're honest about being dishonest, Gin-san. [a small smile] I hope I never have to see that side of you anyway.

I have no reason to lie to you, Morita-kun. It would be counter-intuitive.

[goldenly]

Don't get me wrong, I know you wouldn't! I have to trust in you, right?

Of course. In a sense, that's all I ask of you- unconditional faith.

[goldenly]

["Unconditional faith"...

The way he words it, like it's the simplest, clearest thing in the world makes Morita feel uneasy; it's such a pleasant way of saying he wants everything without question.

Some might call it blind faith- but he doesn't feel the helplessness that implies with Ginji.

In fact, he feels more powerful when he's with him.]

And you trust me in the same way...?

[The questionioning tone is tacked on at the end, trailing off like it doesn't want to be noticed.]

[That's... not where he wanted this conversation to go particularly. It's not a question he feels comfortable answering in any capacity, but at the same time Morita is perceptive enough to know when he's being diverted.

He stays watching Morita, impassive.]

We're going to rule the world, Morita-kun. That goes without saying.

[goldenly]

[Coming from anyone else, that would sound ridiculous but when he says it, it's like he's the one that makes the world turn in the first place.]

... you sound so certain.

[silvery]

Of course I am. [His eyes flash, suddenly intense] There's no other way to live.

[goldenly]

[It's that intensity that catches him off guard. He's right- Morita knows that first hand. Before he met Ginji, he was stagnating in his own state of inaction, drifting from day to day with no meaning or conviction. He wasn't really living at all.

But at the same time...

Morita gives him another smile.]

Maybe for someone as super-human as you, Gin-san.

[silvery]

[This, at least, was anticipated- this modesty. Or rather, this lack of confidence, since modesty implies an understanding of one's abilities.]

I wouldn't pick anyone less than an equal to be my partner.

[goldenly]

You must be seeing something in me that I haven't. [he laughs awkwardly] Maybe one day you'll bring it out properly.

[silvery]

Clearly. [Ginji may be smiling, but he isn't laughing along with Morita. He seems to be watching the man closely.] I wonder if you can't bring it out of yourself.
