...and here's Bob Hale with the Role Playing Report

Thank you Sam!

Now then, acting has been around for a long time. A very long time. So long in fact that the earliest records....

....wait, what? I thought you said this was the Acting report. Role Playing? ....wait, you're not Sam!

[WE APOLOGIZE FOR TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. BOB HALE WILL BE RIGHT BACK.]

....right then. Sorry about that, wrong report.

Now then.

Roleplaying. A curious activity which sounds like acting, but only enough to confuse dear old Bobsie here. What it involves is finding a fictional character and pretending to be them. Today we will be looking at the online variant. Where people only write things down instead of dressing up and running around. Which is good because I don't do field work.

First you pick a character. Any fictional character will do. Say you want to play a wizard, or a demon or a news anchor on a humorous historical sketch show. You simply create a "journal" and find a bunch of pictures of the person in question. Now if you're as good looking as old Bobsie here it'll be simple to find plenty of pictures. But characters from books, well you folks are in a bit of a mess. Unless your character is very popular you'll be stuck with a PB. Which I've been told does not stand for Peanut Butter, but in fact for Played By. Which means that some other persons face will be pretending to be your character while you pretend to be them. Confusing? Of course.

Next you find a game to put them in. Any game that interests you. Say [community profile] mayfield_rpg, that my mun assures me is a wonderful place to live with smiling people. I'm not sure why she kept laughing when she said that, but there you go. But there's lots of games! Games about prisons, games about spaceships, games about helicopters. Only not helicopters. There are even games based on jars of jam. Which are no doubt very sticky.

Or you can even just throw them around on places like this, like what I'm doing now.

Wait a second. This isn't a real report is, it? Well then, you can finish it without my help. Back to you Sam.

Yes I know your name isn't Sam!
