[Knows she's not from the future but after everything that's happened, he's having a hard time looking at her right now. Casts his gaze over to the side.]

Protecting the Earth and making sure no one is killed or captured.

"Right. Those are...Important things."

[And really, wasn't that one of the main reasons she went to Earth? To be a hero, in addition to finding something different from Mars? She just ended up a bit...Side tracked along the way, coming across things that she didn't expect to find.]

Everything else needs to take a backseat to it for now.

[M'gann watches, still confused and with that distressed look. It's...Strange, feeling him be so cold and distant. Like they've stepped back half a year; their mental link is silent as well, and she wants to privately ask him if she could do anything to help, offer her support directly to him...But her thoughts don't want to leave her head. It's almost a suffocating sensation.]

"I-I'm ready to do whatever it takes, too. You know that, right?"

[...Way to mean one thing, and imply something else, M'gann.]

[Being in this place is impacting him. All of the memories of what happens in the future or now the present time, are in his head. His eyes widen slightly and then narrow as he thinks about how that could come across.

But he has their memories of the time they've spent together in the Dream City. Memories that he doesn't have back home. There's still distance on his end but he's not as cold as he was before. His voice is gentler when it comes out.]

[Meanwhile, the fourth wall keeps fluctuating for M'gann a bit. Oh, she has a rough idea, but it hurts and she doesn't really want to focus on it. Being supportive sounds more important...And slightly less tear-her-hearts-out-and-stomp-on-them.]

"I'm...Glad you do, then."

[Okay, smile. She can manage this; encouraging, teammate like, not implying anything more then that-

Wavering, afraid, stretched too thin over those things she's trying to shove to the side.]

"When you- You and the team want my help, I'll give it."

I think everyone has been affected... [Crap. Here comes the tears again. She'll just hug herself right now.]

[It's so hard to not reach out to her when she's this upset.]

Things will never be the same but we can make it right. We can put a stop to all of this.

[Sorry! She can't keep the distance. Her heart is broken a million times over and she just needs someone, so she'll just cling to him, burying her face in his chest.]

We have to. For Artemis. And we have to get La'gaan back. [Ugh. She shouldn't be doing this, but she can't help it.]

[Conner had moved to hold her back when they first heard the news but Beast Boy beat him to it. No matter what has happened between the two of them, he couldn't push her away in a situation like this.

Wraps his arms around her and hugs her tightly.]

We'll get him back, no one gets left behind.

[She nods as the tears stream down her face. Yes it hurt that La'gaan go captured, and she blames it on herself, but getting over Artemis's death was going to take even longer.]

Why? Why did she have to die?

I don't know.

[Wishes he had an answer. Wishes he could somehow make sense out of what happened but he can't. Instead he holds her closer to him and shuts his eyes.]

We asked her to come back and this is what happened. [Swallows a large lump in his throat.] But I know I'd give my life for the things we do.

[She takes a step back, trying not to take advantage of him.]

Me too...

[She doesn't say anything for a moment.] And... I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything.
