This is not too unlike my previous functions. [ A pause β a reconsideration of the statement (though reconsideration is not deliberate enough a word). ] Though, that said, it strikes me as a littleβ
βreversed. You have me say what you think I would, instead of what you would like. I might warn you that my functions may be beyond yours, but it seems to be too late. I don't mean that as a slight; I am very interested to see what comes next. I have heard of the capabilities of some of these places.
[ Another pause, though this one is different in nature, as easily evidenced by what he asks next. ]
Do you think I might ever be human?

Do you think I might ever be human?

I have heard it said, [ he begins, a little more slowly in an effort to convey thought, ] that the trick to suffering through pain is not to mind that it hurts. I don't mind it. I survive, no matter what is thrown in my direction, because I am made to. I do not feel pain, nor do I feel offense or emotional hurt. In my understanding, this is not an excuse to perpetrate more of either against me, and yet most take it nevertheless. I wonder how views would change were I human. Perhaps not at all, granted, but the question stands.

To be human, [ Erik scoffs at that, because it's human that aggravates him the most. ] is to survive, but such a trait is not exclusive to humanity. The only difference you'll find is to feel pain and emotional hurt, but such a thing is once again not exclusive.
Mankind is a waste of time and effort.
