Y'know, while I don't appreciate being a "Yet." in that particular list of your muses (I'd rather be a "Never"!), I do appreciate being taken OUT of the spotlight for... well, you know.

Anyway! I know you're kinda bummed your friend's going back tomorrow, but at least you guys can go back to the usual stuff now! And I can't exactly complain about your two's choice of viewing this week. Or activities. [He chuckles a bit.]

All I'm sayin' is, be glad for the time you two did get to spend together. And me, I'm kinda GLAD "The Blue and the Gray" didn't air while she was here.

[Max sits, panting nearby watching Chris talk.]

[The panting draws his attention and he looks over with a blink, then turns toward the dog.]

Oh hey there, boy. [Friendly, casual tone of course.] What're you doing here?

[Being a dog with a bad facial burn. Wagging his tail slightly at the friendly tone he doesn't move.]

[And noting said facial burn, his expression changes.] Oh wow, what happened? [The tone turns less casual, it's clear he's worried. Not that he expects an answer though you never know around here, but he watches the dog intently all the same.]

[Well, you don't really want to know anyway. It's not pretty. But the concern prompts Max to creep a little closer.]

[He probably doesn't, or heads would likely roll. But he stays still, trying to look as nonthreatening to this strange dog, watching him come closer.]

It's alright. [One hand is carefully turned over and held out as he leans down a tiny bit, spreading his fingers slightly. Holding nothing, and the dog can sniff him if he likes.] Come on over.

[No need, Max took care of things...painfully.

Sniffing the outstretched hand, he pushes his nose against Chris' palm, watching him quietly and then sitting right in front of him.]

[Well, that's one less thing to worry about.

Chris smiles slightly at the touch, turning his hand back over and carefully petting the dog a bit with his fingertips, careful to avoid the burn.] Hey there... How are ya, huh?

Now I want to watch Wild Kratts

[Okay, he's liking this guy, his tail wags slowly as he leans in to sniff at his face. Nice people are a little rare.]

Do it. Wild Kratts deserves all the watching.

[Clearly he just needs to hang out with Chris more.

Chris smiles, letting the dog take the lead, while he scratches a bit behind one ear.] Aw yeah, you're a good dog, arentcha. And so big, too. [Gotta admit, soft spot for the big fluffy ones.]

[Maybe...but Chris might need to do something about the possessive predator instincts he has in excess. On the good side, he's trained and housebroken.

Big fluffy, currently happy mastiff, that's Max. He licks Chris' face.]

[You say that like Chris doesn't have problems with his own instincts when powered up.

He laughs gently and smiles, traveling his hand down the dog's neck and giving him a friendly ruffle on his back. Good doggie.]

[Well, Chris doesn't attempt to kill people who wrong him...or succeed.

Yes, he likes you a lot, you know good ways to pet.]

[That's true. Quite possibly one of the reasons this is going so well; he's an all-around nice guy.

'Course he does! And he's just gonna keep on doing it, adding in both hands to ruffle both his shoulder areas.]

[Definitely helps a lot, though if he's not careful Max might snuggle in enough to knock him over. He's a working animal so this kind of affection is spoiling him.]

[Hey, being knocked over by a big dog wouldn't upset him at all. He's honestly this close to giving him an affectionate head bump or something, nose to nose as they pretty much are.]

[Then he will, pushing into Chris suddenly with easily enough force to topple him and laying on him.]

Oof! [A rather bodily noise there as he's pushed over, but he's laughing softly after a moment and smiling, continuing to ruffle the dog's fur with his hand.]

Yeah, that's all you wanted, isn't it boy? [Burned, and now he's thinking this dog's been a bit starved for affection. So he'll give it all day long.]

[Test subjects don't get physical affection, but he's learned to like it and will definitely hang around...and possibly try to follow Chris home.

Though he actually]nods at the statement, despite knowing he's not expected to answer.]

[He's just going to ignore that whole "spotlight" part. It's hopefully not what he knows his mun and yours (and that other mun) were talking about. Yup. Ignorance is bliss in this case.]

Yeah! I've gotta hand it to the Muns on the decision to go on a nature hike. That was awesome!

[He snickers a little.]

Now if only my mun would ease off the complaints of soreness from it still. I told her I know this great cure for that but she keeps turning it down.

It was pretty awesome. And my mun's REALLY excited about having identified that frog!

[He chuckles, and gives Martin a knowing smile.] Can't imagine why, if it's the cure I'm thinking of.
