For the record, I'm still not convinced this is a good idea. Still, you said you wanted a new challenge, and I'd say trying to make room for me falls nicely into that category. That being said, might I suggest some more research before you just throw yourself in at the deep end?

It's just nerves; I'm sure it will pass soon enough. Practice makes perfect, no?

[ He cracks a small smile. ]
Can't blame her for feeling nervous, but you never know until you try, right?

Well, at least she's got you. If that's what she's so afraid of, she could have done worse for herself.
no subject
I think that's a compliment, thank you.
no subject
I'm not saying you're difficult or anything. But if she's gonna get through this fear of hers, it'd be good for her to have you in her corner. That's all.
no subject
It's not much, but she's enjoyed it so far. I think that bodes well.

What was yours thinking of? [Just... gonna chance it and take one step closer to her.]
agreed! she is badass :3
Yuup! <33
Mine wants to do one of those... private storylines? Yeah, that's what she calls it. Not so sure that's gonna work out for her, though.
♥
lovesmocks. She presses her lips together briefly to rein in her smile ] I see. Either way, I'm pleased for you. It's nice to be able to hold a conversation. And just between the two of us, I have no intention of being pushed into a corner and forgotten again. I'm rather enjoying this newfound freedom.Private storylines...yes, those can be fun. What makes you think it won't work out?
no subject
It would be fun, yeah. Just don't think there'd be a lot of interest. [He shrugs, though he does frown a bit.] Seems everyone here likes that other universe better.
no subject
What other universe?
no subject
Yeah, you know... the other universe, the one where they actually let me fight in the war. Don't need to take things into my own hands there, mun says it's the happy universe. [A frown, he can't entirely process the things I've told him, and him turning out differently than he does in his world.] Never get to dance with you, though, so I don't really see why that universe is so much better.

[He finally does find the courage, maybe somewhere in his determination, and brings up a shaking hand and places it against her cheek.] I had to do it. You said you liked being free, so do I. Why should I let them put me back in a lab somewhere?

[He shrugs.] Little things, mostly. The weapons Hydra makes for the Germans don't work for long. I've had some important people killed, always carefully. Sometimes I'll make sure the wrong orders get sent to the front. But I figure they'll catch on eventually, probably try to kill me. Or maybe it'll be the Americans who do that first.
no subject
[ she raises her hand to lay it over Steve's on her cheek ] That was very brave of you, Steve. Just...be careful. What contact have you had with the American government? [ the idea that they might want Steve dead wasn't a pleasant one, but she could understand it if they thought he'd switched sides ]
no subject
I know I could do a better job running America than they are, I could beat the Russians once they turn on us. [Annnd there it was. There was the truth, what he was going to do once the Germans were beaten. He looked down into her face, searching her eyes for her reaction.]
no subject
And then he dropped the bombshell. Peggy inhaled sharply, her hand dropping as she took a small step back ] Steve...you're a good soldier, a good man. Remember what Doctor Erskine said. [ she raised her hand, resting her palm over Steve's heart ] The important thing for now is winning the war, not thinking about hypothetical future issues.
no subject
[He couldn't help it, he brought up a hand and placed it over the one she had against his chest.] It's not hypothetical. Always hoped maybe.... you'd help me. I really... I like you, Peggy. [Blushing again, but his voice is soft, even a little sad, because he thinks he already knows what she'll say.]
