I've finally figured you out, mun.

[Really, Reid? It took you this long?]

All along you've said you have no propensity for sending me to games where I might be tortured, either physically or mentally. Your rationale for that has been that I've been tortured enough in my canon, I might as well be sent somewhere "nice" when I'm with you. You also don't like writing angst because there's enough of that in the "real world" and you come here to have fun. As far as running philosophies of most muns, that's downright revolutionary, or so you think.

You see, I've discovered what you do like, and that's awkwardness. Awkward social situations. It amuses you, which ties in nicely with the idea that you do this "for fun".

So now you want to send me, of all people, to a place where I'll be given a... w-wife and children, to live in some kind of Pleasantville, Stepford Wives... horror. The funny thing is that you don't see it as horror. You see it as hilarious.

I-If I ever do get... married, I'd obviously want it to be a woman I chose. Instead I'm getting assigned one. W-What if her traits and interests are not compatible with mine? If we're trying to raise children, it will do no good to neither us nor them if we're fighting all the time...

[He pauses because he knows exactly what that's like from the child's perspective.]

You're intent on putting me in awkward situations. Granted that intent is that I "grow" in them, but still. You fail to see how that's not very far off from the incarnations of me who are put in asylum, torture or all sex settings. It's simply a different kind of torture for your amusement.

Probably not.

I just felt like I should bring it to her attention as there's a discrepancy. She thinks she's not like other muns when in fact she is.

Just a bit of a suggestion, next time don't give away what you know without knowing what you want from her in return.

I don't think there's any bargaining with her, unfortunately.

I-It could be worse. She could be one of the ones who sends me to a place where I think I have a mental illness...

[Which for him would be almost devastating.]

Fairly serious. You know she likes to play house with me.

[Sigh.]

She might give it another month though and wait until their next app cycle.

[ He knows by now the futility in trying to talk muns out of these things. ]

Sounds like a hell of a game. Marrying someone you choose to marry is hard enough.

I'll have to approach it as marriage was originally intended in ancient times - as a means of a mutually beneficial collaboration, nothing more.

Good luck with that approach.

And kids; I don't know what's worse. [ He devoted a certain amount of mental energy to missing the child who had only lived for a day, though he'd gotten better through the years at not dwelling on the pain of it. It would be difficult to imagine getting thrown into a game where he suddenly had to be a 'father' to kids he didn't know. ]

They won't be biologically mine... whether that's worse or not, I don't know. I'll still be responsible for them.

Of course my mun is hoping that I get put with some "wonderful" lady and that I fall in love and that she can have the little romance she wants for me. I don't see why I need that. I'm perfectly happy with my job and my books and my coffee and my mother.

You'll have to try a little harder if you expect me to believe that.

[He freezes.]

W-What do you mean?

You love your mother, your job, your books. And I know you sure as hell love your coffee. But I don't believe that's all you want. Most of us want more, hard as it is to make it work with our jobs. [ Even with his three failed marriages, Rossi can appreciate the value in a relationship, human connection, and certainly would love to see his teammates happy. ]

[Spencer is quiet for a moment.]

I don't think the manner in which my mun is going about this is best.

I know the reason that she feels the need to explore this with me is because it's virtually ignored in canon. Because I'm portrayed sometimes as a machine but she knows I'm not.

I don't like the idea myself, but my mun says it seems to be the only way anything in the way of a love life might happen for some of us, the way the show's going.

[ He smiles softly. ]

I don't understand half of the things that come out of your brain, Reid, but you're not a machine. [ You know. If that's a comfort. ]

You saw your ex-wife again earlier this year.

Granted that wasn't a love story, per say...

My mun wants that for me probably more than I want it for myself.

[ That turned out well. So well he doesn't really want to talk about it. ]

I think you want it more than you realize, or wanna believe. I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, and I don't doubt your mun probably does want it more. They usually do.

I don't think it needs to be forced in this way though.

It doesn't.

But there are worse games, and your experience there might not be completely unpleasant.

Yes, I could be going some place where I could face daily mental and physical torture or be forced to have sex with people I don't even know.

It doesn't mean you have to like it, or that you will like it, but it could be a blessing. Certainly the lesser of many evils.

What is your mun doing with you?

She hasn't made up her mind yet. Still wants to put somewhere, apparently. Lucky me.

Mun's wavering, only because she wants to make sure she hasn't bit off more than she can chew with RP-ing already. She's got the writer two places, me one, and the mechanical girl one. That's probably why she's going to stalk that Pleasantville comm for the next month, see what it's like, then reserve me in the next cycle.

My mun says she's gotten in her over her head before, so she understands.

Apparently she likes the sound of this...Mayberry comm, too.

And your opinion on that is?

I'm not thrilled, and I sure as hell won't be a willing participant, but I've seen what goes on inside her head, and this is a decent alternative to what she could be doing to me.

(( OOC: Okay, so you are making me want to app to this game, but I really want to app Maura Isles. I have been dying to play her off of a Reid for ages, and she would freaking adore him. XD ))

As you said yourself, the lesser of two evils.

[OOC: Ooh. You mean as "partners"? I think you pick who you want to live with to a certain extent but I have to double check that. I haven't watched R&I yet but it's on my 'to-watch' list for this summer.]

She has too much time on her hands.

(( OOC: Yes! I was reading through the FAQ again and it looks like you can request who they marry. LOL she's so socially awkward, though she's done relationships before. She just...analyzes everything, and often has no awareness of what is and is not appropriate to say in front of people, and doesn't really understand sarcasm... It's a great show! ))
