You know I'm not one to complain, but I think going into this you need a better plan of attack. I know you have the details of how I even managed to be the one who was injected with the serum written down, but you said it yourself, there were at least three options.

Though, between you and me, the last one makes the least sense. Those physicals made it so they knew everything, even if I wanted to, I couldn't have gotten my parts past them. I'm not saying you need to put me up indefinitely, in fact, well, I'd prefer it if you didn't, but it wouldn't hurt to wait a bit. Show some patience, actually make that plan so we're not rushing in blindly. That's never a mark of a good soldier.

I've got time and unless someone else decides to attack the Earth, I'm sure everyone else does too. So, just maybe focus on your other duties and then come back to me and we'll have a go at this together.

What were the other two?

One was that they didn't want to test it on a man, because if it didn't work, they'd be down a soldier who could have done something. They figured if it didn't work and I maybe died, then it'd just be a dame they lost.

They told me it cost them a lot of money to even get it up and running in the first place. They never planned on Dr. Erskine dying.

I mean, I know my situation was different, because, well, you know the military didn't typically like dames in the service like they did men. I just wanted to make sure- the other me- the me everyone is more familiar with still had his best friend watching his back.

You could say that. The masses would have had me doing my part for my the war effort in a different way.

The name's not hard to figure out. Easiest part and all since Steven translates really well to Stephanie. Captain America might be the one that complicates things.

I'm a little attached to it, though.

There is nothing about the title that suggests it need only be a man to carry it, if it's any consolation, but I get the feeling you're well aware about the sentiments directed at that by most.

Back when I actually earned the title, men were the only ones who carried it. At least until the Women's Army Corps and even then women captains weren't exactly a common thing. I know things have changed, but she still have to explain why I got it in the first place. It's nice, though, knowing I'm not necessarily a rare thing any more.

Captain America, huh? I guess, in the sense that I fly my viper to defend the ship from the cylons, I'm part of an air force. I grew up around the military myself, with mum having served too.

[Loki is probably about on par with Leoben for messing with people's heads, so Kara probably wouldn't blame Steph if she explained. But Kara knows all about feeling potentially crazy after not not!death and. Everything.]
