As I understand it, what matters most isn't where you're placed, but how the mundane places you there. Sort of like the old saying about size and what you do with it, except ... less fun. Arguably.

I'm just grateful there isn't any game called The Deep Roads. Knowing my luck, that's exactly where I'd end up.

That one might not be so bad. I'd lose all my money there, though, unless they granted some kind of power increase that improved my sorry skill at gambling. Perhaps I could equip some kind of special accessory. The Anders Never Loses at Diamondback Ever Again, Especially to Mage-Hating Elves accessory. Surely that's not too far a stretch, or too much of a mouthful.

I'm sure if such an accessory exists, we'll sniff it out in our travels sooner or later. Although yes, knowing your luck it's buried out in the Deep Roads somewhere. Which puts us right back at square one.

Yes. That's my luck for you. It wouldn't be in a convenient storage chest, nestled among the moth-eaten scarves and torn trousers, mind you. We'd find it on the corpse of an Arcane Horror, all crusty with ichor.

Still, it could always be worse. I hear there are a fair number of Blooming Rose games out there, with even less hygienic accessories to be had. It was bad enough to be mistaken for, er, a member of the staff at the actual Blooming Rose. If I've told the mundane once, I've told her a hundred times, I'm not that kind of a companion.
