I seem to be pretty popular today. I wonder if something's in the air. I'd ask Lois, but she'd probably think I was getting a big head or something, and we all know who's cornered that market. Still, you can't argue with success, right? Just means there are still people with good taste out there.

But really--what is it you think we're doing, here?

Not as such, no. Though... I'm getting a distinct feeling of glee that suggests I might be in for more than this.

Only if you count four months babysitting a young and stupid Charles Xavier 'experience.'

I guess I wouldn't know. But most children are just that--children. It's hardly fair to call them stupid just for being young.

[Even though thirty is little more than a child, to someone as old as Logan. He snorts, and shakes his head dismissively.]

Just keep your eyes open. You never know what indignity they'll decide to throw at you next.

I'm sure it can't be that bad. I mean, are these writers can't all be criminals.

[Even if Clark doesn't have any idea who Mystique is, the way Wolverine spits the name out should be enough to tell him exactly what he thinks of this.]

Wow. They can do that? Force you to cook?

[On the other hand, it's very difficult to tell whether Clark is serious or humoring him. It's the glasses, right?]

[He suspects he might be being patronized here, but it's difficult to tell for sure. Logan just grunts, crossing his arms over his chest and not quite scowling.]

First thing you gotta remember. They can force you to do anything they damn well want.

Too bad he only exists in the comics, huh.

You mean you don't believe in people who are willing and able to step up and fight the good fight?

[Clark is gone. But wait. What's this? It's Superman!]

[Clark - Superman, that is, just gets the most skeptical look, and Logan tilts his head, raising an eyebrow and watching him patiently.]

Does 'he' also have an explanation for why you smell just like him?

Fabric softener. Clark lets me use his laundry room sometimes. That must be it. And anyway, you can't just go around smelling people.

But I'm Superman. So... actually I can. I mostly prefer not to, though.

It's a matter of compartmentalizing. Of paying attention only when it's important. I'd hate to invade anyone's privacy without having to, after all.
