On Dream Plots

Mundane.

In a matter of days, you have turned me from displaced warrior to would-be kingslayer to horse. But all these offenses pale in comparison to your next idea.

I am meant to bear arms, not children. Even in a dream.

I never have.

But the only child I bore could walk a half-hour after his birth.

[ Which was better than Loki could do, at the time. ]

Having six legs would, um, seem to be advantageous, in that regard.

[Giles knows horses. Not necessarily six legged horses, but he does know horses.]

Sleipnir is strong for more reasons than one.

Sleipnir, um, i-is a the child of a half frost giant and a frost giant's horse. I-I would think that, um, would tend to breed a hardy sort of creature.

And he is noble.

I am sure he is. Seeing as how he's, um, one of the rapidly diminishing number of godly beings I haven't met [yet], I'll, um, have to take your word for it.

[GILES

HE'S RIGHT HERE

Lifting all eight legs. He can't imagine six legs, that's almost as hard to understand as four.

Two is right out when it comes to legs, though, you mortals are weird.

[...staring.

Just staring.

You have seriously got to be kidding him, world.

And then he realizes that Sleipner is staring at him like he's waiting for a reply, and Giles actually gives one.]

S-Sorry. I-I, um, got you confused, for a moment. W-With your, um...parent.

This is all new to me, I'm afraid. The, um, a-actual...meeting in person bit.
