God of what exactly?

[Well, why not? He's met more than enough legends in his time and seen enough for this to be plausible.]

Out of the Seven Deities many refer to me as the "God of Melancholy", a title I cannot claim to be too fond about.

[That earns a quirked brow from the elf.]

I don't see many appreciating that title.

True enough, I suppose.

[ The way that the hierarchy works in Shinkoku is quite confusing at times, especially in relevance to the gods. However amongst the former Eight Demigods, Yasha is possibly the fourth strongest. ]

Yet, I would rather be the God of Sorrow than the God of Greed or Violence.

[Sounds as bad as the hierachy in Tevinter.]

I cannot fault you there. How does one come by such a title if I may ask?

[ If not then ten times worse since the Shinkoku Trastirum Empire has existed for eons now. ]

My world consists of an hierarchical empire under which those unaltered in their mortality are considered the lower class and those who have been altered through cybernetic means, rule them. We are referred to as Demigods. Only demigods can manipulate the life giving mantra that gives strength to both ourselves and our technology.

However, those amongst us who have earned our titles are the most powerful of our many brethren.

[ They most likely do, especially since the humans are viewed so negatively by the Demigods. The Empire of Shinkoku isn't a very pleasant place in the least or rather the Empire became rather unpleasant once the Demigods began to "purify" the humans for the sake of soul harvesting. ]

Every society seems to suffer from such...rigid hierarchy.

A deity's oath is to his believers for without them we're merely relics of a forgotten past.

Yes, but I'm no better than those who've forgotten the creed. I turned a blind eye to the people's suffering in hopes that their sacrifice would eventually benefit our cause.

[ He sighs deeply. ]

[ Choosing to wear his mask again, Yasha has some parting words for the elf that might signify a new beginning for his world. ]

Even so, my past mistakes won't hinder me now. I'll right these wrongs and uphold the oath that so many of us forgotten during this long and arduous war.

[ The obvious conviction in his tone says it all. No matter what it takes, Yasha won't stop until he succeeds. ]

I refuse to allow the tyranny of the gods to continue any further. This is my duty.

[That makes the elf stop and turn back to consider Yasha.]

[ He almost smiled at that comment but he refused to do so. After all that has transpired in his world, how could he smile now? Yasha played a role in Shinkoku's destruction along with the deities who've forgotten their oath.

Therefore, in his belief he doesn't deserve to smile. ]

I pray that news of my victory will reach beyond the heavens, Fenris.

A prayer, whether it be in the form of a hymn or incantation, is merely a means of communication between the believer and the deity. Many view such prayers as a means of worshiping their god, but in truth that is not what they are meant to be.

Think of such prayers as a means to "inspire" rather than as means of worship.
