[He chuckles.] If only it were as simple as that, madam. No. My place in the Church was chosen by my birth.

That's rarely ever a good time. Not simple to get out of, sounds like?

[Church stuff? Cesare? How many guys with that name and that occupation could there be?]

You wouldn't happen to have a sister named Lucrezia, would you?

[Cesare sounds just a little startled when she asks that.]

Well... yes. How do you know her?

It's sort of a long, weird story that involves a magical castle and sudden influx of Renaissance people a few months ago, but we're friends. She's talked about you and your family now and then. Didn't think I'd actually ever get to talk to you, but here we have it.

A magical castle? Madam, are you feeling ill?

I know it sounds crazy, which is why I didn't mention being a good five hundred years after your time.

... sooo. Magical castle. Your sister's adapted well.

[He just feels free to assume that this Stephanie girl is not well. Perhaps she's escaped her caretaker. But she's friendly enough.]

Has she? In what way?

[You Renaissance people are the weird ones! Just believe her babbling, Cesare.]

She seems to have a lot of friends, and handle the castle's quirks well. "Modern" stuff doesn't seem to give her much trouble, either. She's a trooper.

Lucrezia has always been stronger than many give her credit for. But I feel guilt for not being in this... magical castle... to protect her, if she is indeed there.

She's very much protected. [By at least one Assassin thatwantstokillRodrigo and one Batgirl, to name a few.]

Still, I can't imagine how happy she'd be to have one of her brothers around. Nothing beats family. [For most people, anyway.]

Oh, have I offended? I had no idea that the sense of humor in a magical castle might be so different.

No one's offended. I was just trying to keep it unoffensive for a [what was he again? Oh, right] cardinal. Lesson learned: virgin jokes are a-okay.

If the occasional bawdy joke were entirely off-limits, I daresay that most of the clergy would have a race to see who could jump off the roof the fastest. Besides, a cardinal has to appreciate the humor in a virgin joke when he is the son of the pope.

And I mean crazy in the good way. Not the bad way. Never a dull moment.
