If Kaname Madoka-san is threatened by your workings and by your ways, then my own path is set. As her upperclassman and her mentor, I can't let that happen.

[Madoka is a rare person. That's not to say she doesn't care for Sayaka but Madoka has left more of an impression. Madoka...Madoka is a person who Mami would be proud to fight alongside. To help gain her own power. If Madoka doesn't want Homura's help then Mami's actions are decided. She can't let Madoka be hurt.]

She is frightened of you, she has no idea of your motives, and you haven't made yourself seem a friend. Miki, Kaname, and I have only our impressions of you to go on. You've attacked Kyuubey and continually refused aid.

Your actions and your words don't match.

[It's all true, and for a second the girl lurking behind the composed monster - she knows what she is, yes - wants to give vent to all the frustrations.

But she knows that ends even worse. They'll have to hate her for now. That's just how it is.]

The time may come when you understand how they fit together.

[For all of Mami's calm words and direct statements, this conversation isn't going well. What isn't Homura saying? There's obviously something missing, some motive unsaid.]

For Miki and Kaname's sakes I hope you're wrong.

[Her only motive to this conversation, as always, is Madoka. If she's dealing with an earlier timeline, learning to protect the world Madoka wanted to save does not come before Madoka herself.]

If I'm saying I anticipate danger, don't you think I'd also rather be wrong?

[After all, Homura was...tricky to figure out. Kyuubey didn't recognize her and that was something Mami couldn't ignore. That made her unpredictable. Rogue. Who knew where she came from? What she wanted? What her wish was?

Kaname Madoka seemed to respect Mami and, well. That was a change. For that Mami was willing to call that girl a friend. If Homura was a threat to her then that made her an enemy of Mami's. It was as simple as that.]

You can rely on all that I've said. [She knows better than to expect that to be believed so easily, and yet she finds she wants it to be. She misses the brief moments of the timelines where the magical girls had all been able to work together.]

That's yet to be seen.

[Perhaps, in a previous timeline Mami would have believed her or at least have listened her out but that had been...a while ago.]
