What a day, folks! What a day indeed! It's been a long time since the city that never sleeps has seen so much pure excitement. Excitement that's filled with an uncomfortable mix of gut-wrenching dread and horror, but excitement nonetheless! The probending tournament came to a close today with a disregard of the rules so enormous that it must be one for the history books, ladies and the gentleman. Tahno and and the Wolf Bats, the reigning and proven champs, were able to beat those young up-and-getters, the fabulous Fire Ferrets. Those rookies seemed like a shoo-in for the crown, but in the end the diamonds in the rough just couldn't cut it against pure cutthroat tactics!

Despite that, tonight's true victors came late! Amon and the Equalists got the drop on the joint, and reports say that the Wolf-Bats have had their bending sapped dry. I haven't seen a turnaround like that in my entire career! Who was that masked man, and what gave him that spring in his step? I might have missed an explanation when I myself was floored by an overwhelming electric whammy to my own nervous system! From putting my ear to the ground, I've heard that our very own Avatar, graceful in defeat, worked with the tough-as-nails Cheif Bei-Fong in an attempt to apprehend the suspects. They didn't make it, and the stadium's more or less kaput, but they at least gave 'em a run for their money! As for yours truly, I'm now peppy as a platypus bear again after some hours of bed rest! I can't feel anything in my right arm, but rest assured I've made sure to enter a fresh set of trousers. It's a tough call, but it looks like the all-time champs have become no-time benders, all in the blink of an eye!

The refs are still out on that one, guessing everything short of a divine miracle! I've been commenting for years, and I've never seen any move like that. Of course, I didn't see this particular stunt, as the medics tell me I was swallowing my own drool at the time.
