I have had this thought also. Perhaps he is unused to his allies having strength as great as his.

I'm not a warrior. I'm a scientist. A scientist who, through unfortunate circumstance has been exposed to a warlike environment, but a scientist all the same.

He's unused to having allies period. You may have noticed, but he's generally interested in tearing up everything and everyone. What happened down there- that attack... one of the few times we've been able to work toward a purpose. There are very few things he will fight to protect. [ Betty, this team... ] Everything else is fair game.
