Oh. A tower that traps and torments its tenants isn't bad enough, is it? 'No, Miss Filia, I'm entertaining the thought of sending you there before Dark Star is defeated'?
I see.
[ :D? ]
This is not even remotely entertaining. It's downright awful and you should be ashamed of yourself. There's no one there to tell me that everything turns out all right.
[ At least there aren't any Monsters? ]
A small pittance.
Miss Lina won't even know who I am...
I see.

That wouldn't have ended well for anyone, would it~?
As for those other matters... yes, well. We are a patient enough lot.

And if you had? If your kind does succeed in returning everything to chaos, what will you do then?
no subject
Ahhhh, do you really want me to answer such a thing, Miss Filia?
It may not be the sort of thing you want your preciously pure thoughts burdened with~

There won't be any negative emotions to feed off of...
What do you gain by destroying the world?
[1/2]
You see, my dear Miss Filia...
[2/2] - I'm so sorry, I couldn't resist.
i would have been disappointed if he hadn't tbh
You. Are. Insufferable.
Glad to be of service!
I dare say, I'm beginning to think you have a masochistic streak.

Ah-ah, I'd wager the reason you hide behind such a lame catchphrase is because you're too proud to admit that you just don't know.
no subject
Huh, I don't believe you're in much a position to be talking about what one doesn't know of their race's intentions, hmm?
no subject
I'm not talking about intentions, although it is both pitiful and telling that you feel the need to turn the spotlight onto someone else to mask your own inadequacies.
no subject
Why ever are you so concerned about what we'll be doing when you're all dead and gone, I wonder?
I would not expect that to even be much a consideration in the first place~
no subject
I just wonder what the point of it is. Humans cling to the short lives they have while we dragons protect and idle the time away and you Monsters work actively to bring about destruction. The humans and the dragons -- our motives make sense.
But you...
[ lmao filia are you trying to get soulful with xellos
really
smh rn ]
[What happened here, Xellos. Geez.]
[Well, he's already played the secret card once, and this is interesting, so lets string it along, shall we? You've gotten Xellos to talk, I'm not sure if this is good or bad.]
Let me put it like this, shall I?
What would there be if we did not aim for our goal as we do? There might actually be peace! Tranquility.
Boredom. For us, it would be as good as nothingness.
Surely, there will always be the petty squabbles and conflicts of the humans. It is in their nature, after all. But just among themselves, they don't yet have the capability for the real sort of malicious behavior that would allow us to feed off them properly without our own aid.
I'm sure that time will COME, having looked at other worlds now, but we are not yet there.
As creatures that feed upon misery, it only makes sense to see it to its inevitable conclusion. Or at least attempt as such. After all, what else would we seek?
The Dragons would never abide us simply preying upon the humans, anyway. There would be conflict regardless, due to a need for there to be that which allows us to thrive in the first place.
So, you aim for the top. The ultimate destruction of all that live. Ever the opposite side of our coin, the Dragons aim for the counter to that. Or at least, they pretend to do as such to the outside observers, and even those within their own ranks.
That in itself is chaos, but within that chaos there is also something of a balance. Without one you simply have the destruction, and without the other you have the aforementioned tranquility, or the illusion of it. If one or the other didn't push as hard as they did to their ends, at the same time, one of our races would simply cease to be.
With both, you have neither, and yet it forces both sides to be at their strongest without fully being able to overwhelm the other.
At least... that is one way of looking at it.
There are many others.
that was beautiful /wipes tear from eye
More over-- ]
I understand... why your kind must be defeated.
You should not exist.
[ A race who vied for destruction in the name of boredom had no place in the world.
Can you feel it, Xellos? A renewed, but calm sense of anger. She is properly appalled by your explanation.
But there's something else there, too. Something small, almost non-existent.
Pity. ]
8D; Why thank you
The boredom of tranquility I mention would also equal our demise. Without that strife to feed off of, we would wither, suffer, and eventually die.
So too would you all, though. Without an opponent, a force has no need to remain strong. It might take centuries, but it would happen inevitably with no Mazoku to measure themselves against - Dragons would become weak with stagnation, and eventually the world would have no need for them. If you all didn't create new conflicts - a high probability, I'll admit - you too would dwindle out.
For either of our races to maintain their places in the world, in a certain sense we need one another to exist.
Unless, of course, you'd like to give genocide upon our kind a try. I'd find it admirable, even, Miss Filia...
no subject
If we did stagnate, it would be in force only, and that is hardly a crime once the largest threat to the world is gone. You use us as a means to justify your own existence, but it is not reciprocated.
We would welcome tranquility with open arms. It is what we strive for. Of course, we've made mistakes, but our end goal remains the same, and it will be all the easier to accomplish when the Monsters are no more.
no subject
That simple, hmm? Perhaps you'd like to take the first stab at it~?
I would have thought you might have a better view of the overall big picture after all that Dark Star nonsense.
Rare though it is that it happens, I suppose I may have been mistaken.
Just do remember - just as your kind's motivations are not all clear cut and pure, that applies to everything in the world. For things to continue spinning as you wish, the means to it are not always the most obvious.

and a childish insistence to refuse acceptance of Xellos' words, even if they did have merit. At least, initially. ]
... Your involvement with Dark Star may have been beneficial -- necessary, I'll concede that much -- but don't mistake it for blind acceptance.
[ Likely this conversation would keep her up into the wee hours of the morning. (She'd be a grouch after waking, of course.) ]

You may yet learn in time.
Or end up like the rest~
I'd say this has been an insightful conversation, though!
[Meanwhile, it's been so long since he got to harass a Filia and get into the nitty gritty of interspecies politics, he's rather bright and chipper for a demonic creature of despair and loathing 8D ]
