My player means well, but she has not the blessing of children, her own or otherwise. She does not understand what it means to hold the lives of others in her hands, to be responsible for them as well as to them.

It is not as simple as failing one child to save the other.

When one cannot foresee the consequences of decisions, decisions that seem so minor at the time, well meant, that cannot be undone and possibly never forgiven, one does not always make the best choice.

But I am Father to All, not only to the son of my body and the son of my heart and it is a hard task indeed to balance this responsibility. Something, I fear my player will not understand and take into account when seeking to thrust me into these situations for her amusement.

Your brother might become wise still. Especially if he has the support of family who will unerringly aide him.

I have no sons of my own, but I do understand the responsibilities that a king faces. For what is it worth, my lord, I do not think you were a poor father to your sons.

[Though he also understands the shadow the Loki spoke of, as he has always been aware of his own father's favor for him over his younger and just as capable brother.

It is one of the reasons, he made conscious efforts to show his brother that he is still appreciated. Even if it is only by his older brother and their people.]

But Loki... one often forgets that the more mature son is also still a child, that quiet does not equate to content.

I cannot agree with you more, my husband. If she understood the weighty responsibility of holding another's life in your hands, she would not continue to take on so many as she does now.

I fear for the others in her care; every new voice she adds makes it that much more difficult to hear the ones already there. She does not know the strength it takes for a mother to hear all her children, not just those whose voices are loudest at the time.
