Who knows, maybe the place she's sending you to really needs you right now. [ A beat. ] Can't be any worse than where you were before, right?

I would say that surely there are many places worse than New York, but I wouldn't want to tempt fate.

One he cannot shake off -- the outdated notion of giving others their due, whether by address or conduct towards them. Bruce's mishap may be an unexpected accident, but Steve has heard enough to understand that the man is a veritable genius in his field, peerless in his knowledge of gamma radiation.

Bruce Banner, humble and unassuming, is both a teammate and a man worthy of respect, and this is how Steve pays his. ]

I heard about your stint in Calcutta. Are you planning to go back there?

[ Bruce has dropped down onto a bench somewhere and he's swinging his legs back and forth like a child- then he kicks off his shoes and scoots back until he can cross his legs. Indian style. Then he tips his head back and looks up to Steve. ]

I don't know if I'll be welcome. [ He shrugs a little. The thing is- Bruce is a little like Tony. They are both candid. Whether or not that means that they are open is a whole other can of worms. (The answer is 'no'.) ]
