Homeless and looking

You know mundane, I had a blog before. I stopped using it for a reason, and really don't see the point of starting all this again. I'm fine just doing what I've been doing, me and my work and Toby. I don't need to go anywhere else, and I don't want to.

But please do stop thinking that I'm going to die this week. I'm a mouse, remember, and they're not likely to kill the mouse no matter how much Sherlock apologized for Christmas.

And there's nothing going on with myself and DI Lestrade. It's silly, and he's married.

I think I should get back to work now.

[Sherlock still feels somewhat bad about Christmas, so he can't say much.]

Molly.

Sherlock.

How are you?

[There's nearly a smile there... almost.]

I am well. Did you have a good New Years?

[Someone is a bit confused by the questioning, and the thought 'he must want something' is practically scratched across her forehead in black sharpie. However, she fumbles for a smile.]

It was alright. Worked, you know.

[No, this is what John would call "Sherlock's trying".]

Yes, of course. Suicides?

[Sherlock was busy stalking John and The Woman, so he really wouldn't know.]

Not really. People who'd had a bit too much and decided to drive anyway.

Boring stuff, really.

[He hums and makes an attempt at a smile.]

Most of it is. Which begs the question: how do you keep yourself from getting bored?

I like my job, Sherlock. I like seeing how people's bodies worked and seeing what effects their live had on them.

[He hums again and nods.]

Had anything interesting recently?

[It's not that he wants something from her, it's that this 'conversation' thing is hard for him.]

[Molly actually does like talking about her work, and there are things she finds interesting, so there's a little bit of a quicker tone in her voice than there normally would be.]

We had a case of Dextrocardia situs inversus. It was the first case of totalis that I had seen. The woman who had it was quite old and had no medical paperwork, so it was quite a shock.

So what killed her, simple old age?

[His question is simple, but his tone suggests he's interested.]

No. [Her post had a little bitch in it, like she was sharing a secret.]

It was her condition that'd done that. Had her heart been in the normal place, she'd been fine. A bit bruised, a bit sore nothing worse for the wear.

She fell? Or was in an auto-accident?

[Now Sherlock is trying to solve the crime.]

She fell down some steps in the Underground.

[He nods.]

And she fell to the right, had she fallen to the left... a hospital stay, but she would be alive. That's interesting.

[No, he's never actually seen a case of it either, but he's read about it.]

It really is fascinating to think that the first responders actually might have done something to hasten her death.

[And Molly does sound fascinated, really, because it's brilliant, and the way that the body works is wonderful.]

[Excuse Sherlock's grin.]

They murdered her. Had they listened to her heart properly, they would have known something was wrong...

It's instinct though, trying to fix someone, heart on the left, trying to give her things for the pain.

[Seeing people in pain is one of the reasons Dr. Molly Hooper does pathology rather than seeing patients]

All they had to do is listen to her heart. As to pain? Not everyone sees pain as you do, Molly Hooper.

[He knows, he knows she doesn't like watching him 'work' probably because she imagines what that feels like to a living person.]

[If it hadn't been for Christmas, Molly probably wouldn't say this, but.]

N-not everyone sees the world as you do either, Sherlock Holmes.

[He hangs his head. He deserves it.]

Apparently not.

[But Christmas is over, he won't be apologizing again.]

[Molly doesn't expect the apology, and she hadn't expected the first one. But she was going to try and stand up to him more often.

Call it a New Year's resolution.

However, she smiled a little bit.]

Did you want to see the body?

[That earns a smile. And he'd probably respect her more if she did stand up to him.]

Please?

[It was a request, not a demand, but it always wasn't a plead.]

[Nodding quickly, Molly moved to one of the drawers, and she pulled it open with all the familiarity of someone who was comfortable in her element, if not in her skin.]

I thought you might, so I saved her for you.

[He waits until she slides out the tray and uncovers the woman. And he smiles brightly.]

Oh Molly, you are so good to me.

[Which is as close as he gets to "I'm sorry" and "thank you" in the same breath.]

Exquisite.

[While Molly has in fact promised herself that she is going to get over one Mr. Sherlock Holmes, when he says things like that, she still gets little butterflies in her stomach entirely against her will.]

It really is something special.

[Unfortunately for Molly, Sherlock is completely oblivious to anyone... besides himself - especially when it comes to relationships.]

You said it was the first you have ever seen?

[He studies the body intently, even pulling out his magnifying glass.]

For me as well.

Yes. I think it's a first for the morgue since I've been here. 'Course it's such a small bit of the population.

Indeed it is.

[He looks at Molly and makes eye contact.]

You didn't have to share this with me... Thank you.

[See? He can be civil and nearly pleasant, when he wants to be.]

[Molly shifted her head to one side, and she fidgeted a bit.]

Well you know me, weird girl needs to have weird things.

[Molly, don't make jokes, Molly, don't make jokes.]

Don't do that...

[But, tonight, he's not sure if he means the joke or the berating herself. He's in a fairly good mood. It shows.]

[Molly just nods for a moment, and then she doesn't say anything for a moment. When she does speak, it's something most people would find... weird. However when it comes to Molly's job and Sherlock, it's normal.]

I've left the 'y' incision open if you want to take a look inside.

(I expect it'd be a lot of "what. what? what?! but it would be hilarious to play.)

[Sherlock grins like a schoolboy at that. Everything between them would be okay. He hurries over and grab a pair of gloves. He puts them on as he comes back.]

Oh, perfect.

[He then starts his own examination, sorry Molly, he' going to be distracted for... awhile.]

((All my tears, I imagine.))

[And Molly just lets him go, because well... he's Sherlock.]

[No mystery to solve here, this is Sherlock the pure scientist at work.]

I never thought a healthy dead body could be so interesting....

Everyone's interesting in their own way, Sherlock. How you look at a person tells you loads about them.

But I can see the same sort of thing when I look at a person's body.

[Sherlock looks up at Molly at that remark.]

That's... actually quite true, Molly. [And it's back to the body.] Don't let it go to your head.

[That made Molly chuckle weakly.]

Don't worry, Sherlock, you can count on me not too.

[And it's about twenty minutes of silence before he finally 'surfaces for air'.]

So, have you discovered any other abnormalities because of her condition? I mean... perhaps at the molecular level?

[He knows he's stretching, but he's curious.]

[Molly has been doing other work, so she blinks a bit when he actually speaks, and he's speaking to her. Shaking her head, Molly responded.]

No. Everything else came back normal for her age, gender and lifestyle.

[He sighs.]

Well, I suppose the interesting details have to end at some point.

[He looks over at her and tilts his head slightly. He offers a tiny smiles.]

Thank you, I haven't had that much fun in awhile.

[John would berate him for having 'fun over a dead body' but, John doesn't understand.]

You're welcome.

[Molly understands. She's good with dead bodies, and she's cheerful about it.]

[Which is why he's always trusted her.]

Well, do text me if you find anything else?

[He simply trusts her reply and starts to head out.]

Ms. Hooper, my mundane would like me to inform you that the mundane of my, brother, is, excited to see you here. [No not really Mycroft, Sherlock's mun says she loves you for playing Molly.]

However, I find that I am more worried about myself this week than you.

Oh. Well. Thanks. [<8i>Molly is more than a little pleased with this, even though she's not sure how to show it. And Molly is fun.]

I don't think you're in danger, Mr. Holmes. You're more canon than I am, and of course there's how important you are.

I did! I was so worried she was gonna die but then OMFG AWESOME.

I was honestly disappointed she WASN'T one of those named, but she had a higher calling...

Yeah, but I figure they wanted people to forget that conversation between them.
