On apping to Animus

So let me get this straight.

After spending the last five decades of my life knowing I had to spend every waking moment working on something to prevent the death of my family. After thinking I was going to die to save them, and finally getting past that and saving them all. After all of that, you want to take me and send me to some tower where even more terrible things are going to happen?


...Well I suppose nothing I can do will stop you, and as long as my grandchildren are safe I don't care much what happens to me. However, do not expect me to be happy about these developments...

There are several folks from my world that would be up for an "adventure" like this.

Granted, they are a little foolish... but that's what youth is for, my dear.

I... The only comfort I can offer is that there are other people there who are willing to help you while you're there. I don't know how much better that makes you feel, though.

That is a cold comf- [...what is this child. His lines of fate are among the most knotted she has seen. She pauses for a moment and gives him a strange look, then shakes her head.]

Its been a long time since I've accepted help from anyone, child. And after a lifetime of trying to protect my children and grandchildren, I just don't know if I can change now.

hmph well i'd hate to hurt its teeth on these tough old bones, so I'll do my best.

[She'd wonder how such an innocent looking kid could survive there if it is so tough, if he weren't a shiny ball of Fate.]

[Like shes going to believe someone who radiates destiny like he does just sits around eating bonbons or something.]

Well, while the tower is eating folks up and spitting them out, what do people...well...do with their time?

[Oh, okay, that kind of do. He thought she meant him.]

Normally, just... try to relax. Some of us are trying to find a way out. Some of us spend time with friends, or have a job in the Tower, or... just. Normal stuff. [Until... bad things happen.]

I see...[sort of] Well, if there are kids like you living there perhaps it won't be so terrible.

[A sad expression crosses her face as she stares off into memory]

It would be nice to have friends again.

[... except it is, and he doesn't have the heart to tell her that right now, not with her looking so sad.]

... I'll be your friend.

[...aw, poor kid thinks he has to be friends with an old biddy]

You are a thoughtful child, but surely you have friends your own age to play with, who wont slow you down.

I don't see what age has anything to do with making friends with people.

Perhaps you are right, I'm afraid I am in no position to speak on friendship.

It doesn't matter what people are, or how old they are... They can still be friends.
