My mun's pretty upset about it too; although, she doesn't have a problem with the beginning -since that's all she's really played and things seem fine there- but reading spoilers, the ending really upsets her. I mean, really upsets her. And she purchased the collector's edition too.

But on the positive side, there are many theories going around that she's read about. So if a third game comes, there's hope.

My mun was yelling something about "character derailment" and "complete, unjustified regression", and he actually READ those shitty betweener comics. I'm not an expert, but even I have to admit it was horrible writing.

Apparently he was hoping Heller and I would team up and take on PARIAH.

That's funny, so was mine. Less yelling and more complaining though. I think actual tears were shed too. That's how invested she was.

But she wanted Heller and you to team up and take down Greene's kid too. Those comics may have explained a little, but the character change was too quick, too uncharacteristic. (All that over a girl? Really? Sure there's a lot of bad people in the world, but there is good too. And I thought the whole point was that you had more humanity than most humans; albeit the countless bloodshed. You had the ability to love, to care. My mun is ranting here.) What you did in the first game didn't add up to your decisions in the second game.

That's why she's keeping her fingers crossed for the third game. The creators know how popular you are, and I'm sure they're aware of how the fans are reacting. Still, it doesn't stop my mun from wanting to cause some carnage herself.

If I was able to form a conscience out of all the shit I saw in Manhattan, I doubt the world at large was going to break me that much further.

In the words of the guys in charge, I was too powerful to be the main protagonist in another game. Why they couldn't just have me as a story-assist to Heller, I have no clue.

I could have been NPC'd, taking care of other shit while Heller was doing his thing. But no, I had to be cartoonish bad guy.

That's not even getting into Blackwatch. Much as those guys ARE bastards, they went from ruthlessly efficient to puppy-kicking evil for the sake of evil.

Our childhood was not all buttercups and rainbows, but... it would have been nice if it had been. I'll admit that. And yeah, you did spare me, but for how long? I'm pretty sure you would have killed me or otherwise sometime in the future as that tyrant.

My mun said they really wanted 'Heller vs Mercer,' and there were better ways to go around it, but the good ol' comic book super-villain style just happened to be the easiest way.
