In your experience. You aren't him. Things and people fall into place for him because that's how he is.
[ touche. maybe he deserves it. deceiving him in the Underworld to get in good with his father and again, in camp, to save all of their secrets. ] I didn't have a choice before.
[ yeah, Fish Breath likes him enough or at least he did. Nico likes to think after their great war they patched things up or were working towards it. he blinks, listening to the spiel, wondering where they'd all be if Hera was nowhere to be seen. ] You get a kick out of all this.
[ talking to ghosts with attitude is nothing new but there's something off about Luke, he doesn't seem.. stuck in a loop, repeating his own tragedy forever. ] But you wouldn't so much as throw sarcasm my way if there wasn't a part of you that cared. Your boat's bigger than mine but they're not so different.
Caring is something I stopped doing awhile back, bud. [He nods his head.] But you got on thing right.
Our boats maybe different but they have a lot of similar traits. [Nico is an outsider, Luke knows the feeling.] I take it you and I both aren't going to get a warm fuzzy welcome when and if we get in this little game?
and don't go comparing them, he's an outsider by choice. not an exile. ] Don't hold your breath. Between the two of us, I think I've got a better shot at a so-so reception.
[You have your ways to get you through the day and he has his.] So-so? That is until Percy tells Annabeth that you didn't say anything about his appearance in the Roman camps. Not that I know anything about that.
I think those two are going to have their own version of throwing pots and pans at each other about that. He made his choice. Find Annabeth or save the world. [ he's not biting the bait because he knows by the time Percy showed up, the others had already suspected it. with Jason's memory coming back, it wasn't hard to imagine the same swap had happened with Percy. ]
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say 'him' is Percy, right? Or Jason. Though I've never seen you before. Does that mean you're Roman? Then again, Percy's Greek and I hadn't seen him before. And he was at the Roman place, so you could know him too, that is, if you're Roman. But you could just not be claimed. Oh! Or-- no wait, that wouldn't make any sense, they all came back. [Rambles. He does. Just...bare with him while he strokes his chin.]
Maybe. Who's asking? [ yeah, kid, he doesn't really recognize your face. and Nico is going to let him go off like a firework, noting that he's similar to Percy in the word vomit department. going, going and still going. he has to be one of Jason's friends, right? the exchange. ] You're so eager to put me on a side, when I'm not really on either. I don't belong at the Greek or the Roman camp.
Haha, sorry dude. Should have realized you don't know me either. Leo Valdez, at your service! Also famously known as The Supreme Commander of the Argo II. [he's never going to get tired of waving that one around.]
Oh, and I'm head counselor of Cabin 9. [Pausing, then shrugging.] You know, bro, I really don't care what 'side' you're own. One of my best friends is Roman and the other is Greek. I mean, aren't we all demigods? Should it really matter? [He's had a lot of time to think on this, but wait---]
You don't belong at either? Wait, does that mean-- you're not a god, are you? [....because that's totally the only other option, right?]
[ he's had other things on his mind, what with worrying about the Doors of Death and the vanishing of their leader. true, he'd been helping Annabeth in her search as much as anyone else but he'd also always had another agenda to keep to. learning the names of people back at a camp he scarcely visited wasn't a part of that. beyond 'the roman and his friends.' ] Nico di Angelo. [ there's no sense in lying. ]
That was my point. It doesn't matter. [ he gives a small smile, watching this guy work through all of his reasoning. ] When I pass through, Cabin Thirteen's open to me. I do my own thing a lot of the time, that's what I meant about not belonging.
Cabin Thirteen, that's-- [Thinking, thinking, imaging the camp in his mind, only it's not as easy as it sounds.] That's...so wait, you're the Hades kid that pops in and out? Annabeth mentioned you a couple times. Either way, nice to finally meet you.
Hazel. [ it's.. good to see her. considering he's supposed to be dead or alive (see: trapped) somewhere in Rome and she's - well, he hopes she never has to go back to their father's domain. ] Do you think he'll want to understand?
[ she's about as reserved as he expects her to be and he tries to reflect that back at her. instead he's about as aloof as he always is. ] For the needs of the many.
[ he isn't certain that his wasn't selfish but still, he can respect her leadership. ] Not willingly. I'm not getting much of a vote on whether an Ambassador of Pluto is necessary.
[Regardless of how reserved and all she appears to be? She trusts you far more than she does Octavian, Nico. So, selfish reasons or not, she accepts that you have your reasons...]
I doubt that any of us have been sent to this place willingly. I would much prefer you back home, where you at least might have been able to check on the Camp... to put Octavian in his place.
Octavian doesn't listen to anyone or anything except his prophecies, real or imagined. [ he's as onto him as Percy was. ] The campers won't follow him. He talks pretty but he'd rule with fear, not respect.
No, he does not listen to anyone. However, fear commands attention.... And if he manages to make the Camp fearful enough...
[Respect or not, she's freaking out. In her own little way... That being, through carefully constructed words... and no actions or emotions to back them up. She wants to say more, but she'd never forgive herself for appearing weak.]</small?
Someone will step in. [ it's going to be difficult with almost everyone with the instincts to lead from both the Greek and Roman camp being relocated but he doesn't think it's impossible. ] Things were unsteady when Percy showed up but the whole point was to side-step another war. With Octavian at the front [ he has to be careful how he says this because while he may not be the best ally, he's still Roman and Nico isn't despite certain illusions ], I don't think the gods could be sure of that. Say what you want about her, about everything she did but she won't let that happen.
I can only hope that the Gods will watch over the camp in our absence... And that the Senate will be able to rule with a sure enough mind to keep Octavian from power.
[ if it ain't broken, don't fix it. and yet, he still finds himself owning up to it with a sigh. it figures it's obvious to everyone but Percy. ] I thought you had your memories back.
[ or maybe this is one of those weird timeline cases. ]

Don't worry yourself to death. [Ha. He made a funny.] It won't be all bad. Besides the sea prince likes you, right? Calls you a friend?
He might be mad for a few days but then his kind caring heart will take you back with open arms. [Okay he's being a little mockish now.]
