[ He grins. ] Hey yourself.

Because that's just what the world needs, more Damon. I'm on record that you're a much better idea.

[ BRB HUGGING TIME. she missed you, mason. badly. ] I thought we were supposed to be the ones who skipped the Founding Family drama.

[angerissues]

Well, she seems pretty adamant about keeping me around so I don't think you'll have to worry. But I like the way you think.

[ There's just the tiniest bit of hesitation as he hugs her back. ] I thought so, too. [ When he pulls away, he moves his hands to her arms, a very unhappy look on his face. ] What happened to you? Was it Damon?

I like you around-- I'll go on the record with that, too.

[ ...oh. ] You can tell, huh? [ she crosses her arms over her chest, not dislodging mason's hands but needing to anchor herself. ] It wasn't Damon.

[angerissues]

Is this your way of telling me you've always had a thing for me, Jenna? [ He's teasing.

But he nods, his hands giving her arms a squeeze before he drops them. ] Who was it?

Oh, please. If I was smart I would have gone for you instead of Logan, and we'd be... I don't know, married and living in Atlanta by now instead of dead. [ she's... WELL MOSTLY NOT TEASING. but they've been friends long enough to understand 'i wish i had wanted to bone you and not my evil ex back in high school' is a compliment, rly.

she rubs at her arms, shrugging a little. ] You wouldn't know him. [ and the name 'klaus' makes jenna want to snarl a little, which is always awkward. ]

[angerissues]

[ That gets a bark of a laugh. ] Oh, God, could you imagine us having kids together? [ But yes, he's definitely taking it as a compliment.

He also knows avoidance when he sees it, so he decides to let that part of it go. For now. ] I'm so sorry, Jenna. [ Have another hug! ] You don't deserve this.

They'd probably end up Republicans... or stockbrokers. Just to spite us, damn hypothetically ungrateful brats. [ it says something that after years apart, they've always been able to jump back into conversations they've been having since the day they met. jenna's not teasing-- if life was fair and she had good taste in men, it would have been mason.

...oh thank god. ] Me too. [ she'll take that hug, breathing in mason's familiar scent and sighing. ] It wasn't my next planned life step.

God, our potential kids are awful. [ oh, mason. she's always loved you, even if it wasn't love-love. ]

Not without owning more black lipstick than I do. [ she shakes her head once. ] You'd be surprised. I got my crash course when things were a little... hectic. What I know is depressingly little.

[ this time she hugs mason. ] And I think certain Salvatores knew if they told me what they had done to my best friend, they'd get slapped. Crisis or not.

[angerissues]

No kidding. Thank God we dodged that bullet. [ Though, honestly, he probably would've been very happy settling down with Jenna. ]

Do you even own any? [ Skeptical look is a go. ] Well, if you've got any questions...

[ He chuckles a little, but it's fairly humorless. ] And they're just selfish enough to keep it covered. Lemme guess; they said I just up and left town without so much as a goodbye?

Right? I can only imagine. [ they should have done it, really. too late now, but hindsight is always 20/20. ]

I think I might have tube jammed in a drawer, somewhere. Halloween costume kind of thing. [ she inhales, thoughtfully, then lets the air out slowly. ] I have more questions than I have anything else, but right now I'm okay just... catching up. I missed you.

[ eyerolling forever. oh MAN damon is going to catch it about this, once she finds out for real. ] Sounds about right.

[angerissues]

I don't even think I want to try.

[ He laughs. ] Is that the excuse you're going with? [ He smiles and wraps his arm around her shoulders. ] It's nice to know at least one person did. For what it's worth? I would've missed you, too, if I had been able to. [ Being dead kinda puts a damper on the whole feelings thing, though.

He just shakes his head at that, not even the least bit surprised that everyone bought the story. ]

Plus, we'd have to make them, and you're just... you're kind of gross looking.

[ YEAH NOT SO MUCH. but teasing is a healthy part of any friendship okay, and sometimes you have to call your stunningly gorgeous male best friend a yeti. ] I was never dark enough for the goth thing, and you know it. [ she turns into the arm, turning it into a hug, nose pressed against mason's shoulder. ] I'm always going to miss you, Lockwood.

[ jenna likes to think if she had a few more days to connect the pieces, she would have figured things out. moot point now, sob. ]

If it makes you feel better, mine seems to think that's why I'm so talkative right now. They both sound like dumbasses, if you ask me.

[angerissues]

You could say that again. [ Have a friendly punch to the shoulder, Tyler. ] How've you been?

[lockwood]

[Well, first he accidentally killed someone and became a vampire. Then he was killed and turned into a hybrid. It's been a crazy year. But he's going to put his bravado on, it's what he does best] Pretty awesome, overall.

[angerissues]

Yeah? [ At least he's not permanently dead like Mason here. If I decide to take him post-death. ] Glad to hear it.

[lockwood]

It's good to hear from you again. Weird a little, considering you're supposed to be dead and all. But good.

I've been trying to ignore the whole dead part of things but, you know, thanks for reminding me.
