[That sounds scary, Misa doesn't like the though of Light having that ripped away at all. She puts her hands on his chest, vaguely hoping to keep his soul inside. Is there even such a thing as a soul? There must be, if Light is concerned about having it taken out.]

Why would anyone want to do that?

The new place I'm setting off for splits your soul from your body upon entry and it takes the form of who you really are, although it sounds more like a metaphorical manifestation than anything. Mine's a red-tailed hawk, they're called "daemons".

[ He doesn't mind the form of it, soaring over other daemons sounds pretty acceptable as far as his soul's ego goes. He does grasp her hands and give what should be a reassuring squeeze, mainly to stop her scrabbling and making a scene. ]

A daemon is your soul become manifest, it walks by your side and can talk like a human.
