The decomposing corpse gives off complex putrid pheromones that's pick up by the tagma of the fly or any other mammal, insect, reptile, amphibian, fish with a certain radius. Flies in particular.

In order to talk, sir their vocal cords would have to have resperation passing though them.

Vocal cords need vibrations in order to work, which is caused by inhalation.
