Ventrue, Gangrel -- yes. I'm...familiar with Toreadors, but as a bloodline, and not a Clan.

The clans -- since apparently this is in need of some clarification -- are Daeva, Ventrue, Gangrel, Mekhet, and Nosferatu.

Uh ... not quite. There are thirteen clans, one for each Antediluvian, sired by the Three who in turn were sired by Cain himself.

We in the Lancea, of course, recognize that it is Longinus who was first among the Damned, but if something like that were universally recognized our work wouldn't be half so difficult.

There are five clans. There exist such a thing as bloodlines, though I confess I've no idea how numerous they are. My sire may have been a fool, but he taught me that much.

It only takes getting dragged someplace new once to realize that everything you thought you knew about how the world works can be wildly subject to change.

It hadn't occurred to me that something like that might also be true even between those of us who identify as Kindred, but it certainly explains a great deal about the turn our conversation has taken.

And if you mean that the word "Methuselah" ought to have meaning to me outside a certain Biblical figure, then no, I haven't the slightest what you're talking about.

If you really don't know what Methuselahs are, consider yourself lucky. See, after a thousand years or so, a vampire tends to go a little crazy. Worse, they feed on Kindred.

Yeah, we call them Methuselahs because of the whole 'being undead for a thousand plus years' thing. Apparently something changes when you get that old, because they can only seem to feed on other Kindred. Whether it's personal taste or real necessity, I don't know.

I do know that our creation story is mostly true, however, as there's some documented evidence about the Antideluvian's existence, and it's because of the Antediluvians -- in part -- that a couple of the clans have changed over the last several hundred years.

Mm, well, it's quite simple, really: as the potency of one's blood increases, so does the potency of one's...needs. It's hardly an ideal situation, though, letting yourself get bound to random neonates; I imagine that must be part of the necessity of torpor.

Or perhaps that is yet more evidence for the differences in our realities. That, and the fact that the Kindred I know very distinctly have just the five clans I named, with never such a thing as an Antediluvian.

Heh. Technically, there's something like fifteen clans, given that couple Antediluvians have been Diablerized and thus clans have shifted.
