Ancient canon with an ancient antihero
Well, here we are then.
[He sighs, sitting down, reaching into his pack to pull out an apple and a knife. Quietly, he starts to cut away a slice.]
'Course, that assumes you have any idea what you're doing. No offense, nice to be out and walking under the sun, see. Just been under enough stupid officers and stepped in enough cack to be a bit cautious, me.
[A grin, and he crunches down on a slice.]
If you do know what you're doing, then it's going to be a time of it, and no mistake. Speaking of which: drink. Could do with some. Talking all friendly is better over a mug, eh? Maybe the company of a nice woman after. Or the opposite - either way 'round works. Bet on some dice, leastways if I'm likely to win thanks to your, uh, efforts on my behalf...?
After that, well. It's a busy old life. Let's get about it.

[ Seating herself on the ground next to him, uncaring about her fine silks, overskirts rustling, Marguerite eyes his apple with a tilt of her head. The two glasses of wine in her hands slosh around, though she manages not to spill. Plenty of practice.
She holds one glass out for him. ]
And do not say 'a stupor', because I have been good and not gone into excess. No man is worth much once he's passed out.

Oh, well, for you, none at all - and you're right about that.
[And he's so charmed he'll cut her a hefty slice first before even reaching for that glass.]
