Funny how things turns out. Here I am, after all this time searching, joining the New Jedi Order... and yet I feel useless. I'm not competent in the Force... nor did I do much to defeat the Empire. Just running. Like a coward.

But I shouldn't complain. The Force lead me here, and here I am. I just need to work hard to get where I want to be. I have to set an example and build a foundation for those whom come after. There is still a way to go in restoring the Order back to how it was. I'll help with that.

The New Jedi Order? The Empire has been defeated?

Somehow while I was running and hiding from the Empire, the Rebels managed to strike at the heart of the Empire... Sure there are still some Empire forces running around but Emperor Palpatine is dead.

I wish I had done more. Not let my fear control me. That's not the Jedi way. "There is no emotion, there is peace". First line of the Jedi code.

I got much more to learn.

(She sucks in a sharp breath and then sighs, relieved.)

Fear is human. We are all afraid; you can't stop yourself from feeling that emotion. But, in time, you can learn to overcome it. No one is born a perfect Jedi.

Yeah... This is a chance for me to learn. Knowledge that I seek. Since the fall of the Republic it has been difficult to find teachers. I'm lucky that I did.

Maybe one day I'll be strong enough to fight alongside Luke Skywalker.

The Jedi are much rarer than they used to be. I remember when they were executed.

Luke...Skywalker? (Her heart skips and she has to force herself to breathe.) What do you know about him?

Yeah... So was my previous master.

Not much. Only what I've heard. He's a kid from Tatooine. Excellent pilot. Brother of Princess Leia Organa of Alderran. He was the guy whom defeated Darth Vader and the Emperor on board the second Deathstar. He was also leading the squad that destroyed the first Deathstar. He's kind of a big deal I gather.

I don't know him personally. We have spoken sure but I'm yet to meet him in person.

(Both Luke and Leia... Alive. Well. Away from Palpatine. Silently, Padmé thanks Obi-Wan. Only he could have seen it done.)

He is a "big deal" to me too. As is his sister. (She smiles tremulously, brokenly.) My name is Padmé and I am...their mother. I was only able to hold them once. When they were infants. I named them.

Oh... I... My condolences. [Feeling embarrassed he took a small bow. After all, Padmé was one of the founders of the rebellion. Leia has certainly inherited a lot from her ]

They're well. Luke is starting a new Jedi Order and Leia is working on rebuilding the Republic. They are both very strong.

(She shakes her head, but then she stops the motion. No matter what she ended up accomplishing, she still feels like a failure. Leia and Luke shouldn't have had so much to contend with.)

I hoped they would be. (What choice did they have?) Their father was once a good man.

I'm relieved they come to an end. Be gentle with yourself. The greatest Jedi weren't just powerful, they were humble and willing to admit when and if they made a mistake. I had the honor of knowing Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Master Obi-Wan, Master Yoda and of course Anakin.
