[Peaceful, that's the feeling he has inside of him right now. This is always peaceful, the moment when the world stops. It's just two friends connecting, this is why he fights. These moments outweigh any bad that their world or a mun could throw at him. This must be why he goes along so easily, the rewards outweigh the risk for Yamamoto.

He will hold out hope that Gokudera does not end up homeless. No matter what happens, he is bound to approach the other any where he sees him. The setting never matters to Yamamoto, even the worst moments can end up okay.

He freezes, surprise litters his features as he is not found out but more called out. He can assume Gokudera knew what he was feeling. It should be no surprise as guilt over not being there for a friend is like breathing to Yamamoto. He just wants to help. Seconds later his soft smile returns. Gokudera is right, he knows this. It does not change his current plan to stick around and ~~pester~~ hang out with the other. ]

Yeah but it still sucks you had to go through it. [Then he gives a soft laugh for him, more a chuckle. Gokudera could just quit, but he'll not poke that beast. ] That's what friends are for.

[He understands, he knows he has helped his friend to relax. Sure Gokudera will still have tenseness in body, that is just him but there is a notable difference between a stressed, fretting Gokudera and this one. Stick with him Gokudera, every time these moments happen the expression there will be of someone who believes in you. He also knows Gokudera can only take so many open feelings so when the gaze hits him he refrains from poking the tiny hole that opened for him today by teasing.]

Say, do you think she'll let you have Uri? Mine let me have Jiro and Kojiro last time but I wasn't allowed to use them in battles.

[Gokudera won't keep comparing this Yamamoto to the many others he's played with over the years. They're all Yamamoto, all baseball idiots, and right now, he's got no complaints. Which... is pretty odd considering he's typically hyper-critical.

But for now, there's just the comfort of familiarity. He knows Yamamoto more than he lets on. The fact that he isn't being teased, there's no threat, and there's honest, open communication allows him to shed light and... clearly surprise the other boy.

With a dismissive wave of his hand, he doesn't bother to acknowledge that any of what he's been through has sucked. Really, a lot of his hardships have occurred when he didn't have his family. Before he had the Vongola. His life has changed, and even when he hasn't had Yamamoto around, or anyone else from the family, it's knowing that he'll go back to them that keeps him going. He gets strong and keeps growing, pushing himself for their sake, and when they want the best for him, his efforts reflect that. It's easy to take care of himself when he thinks that's what they would want. He has purpose. There's warmth at Yamamoto's words.]

Friends... family. Pretty much the same thing.

[Oh. Yamamoto saw him searching. Just gonna... avoid eye contact again. Even if that did kind of help keep him from being teased.]

Yeah. She usually does. People tend to be more willing to approach me if there's a cute cat. [Most people aren't eager to respond to a grumpy teenager, but if there is a kitten, most of them are on his posts like white on rice.]

[It is what could be called the calm after the storm. There is a peace in this space that is not tenuous. Two people who are comfortable in where they are and what they are doing at the moment.

Right! Vongola fight! [He got caught in the moment, he figures he was not going to get Gokudera to do a two man huddle but he would be down, just saying. It is a warm feeling to know there is a core group of friends who will be there till the end. So much in the world can change, bonds between people can change. But, they have had a peek in the future, it is brighter now for sure and one thing did not change, they are still family, all of them.]

Hahaha [He laughs, drawing attention away from Gokudera, as if he did not see the quick move to avoid eye contact. Instead he keeps his eyes upward, as if he can see the sky above him. That will be nice, getting outside, outside. Hurry and pick a place mun.] But you two are exactly the same.

[Sometimes Gokudera just feels like his storm is more of a... breeze, which may seem weird, but most often he attributes his storm to a gale, resourceful as much as it is relentless. Maybe it's more passionate, but he has other attributes aside from the most predominate.

It's what will make him a strong right-hand, being able to bring everyone together. If he understands how to best read those other members of the family, he can better utlize their strengths, help them in their weaknesses... and work on himself in the meantime by working with others.

The cheer gives him a slight start, and he lifts his eyebrow.] You want a huddle, or something? [Isn't that just an embrace?!]

No we aren't! It loves everyone but me! [Gokudera loves...

[Storms come in all shapes, sizes and forces, this makes sense. Yamamoto did not expect Gokudera to mention the huddle. He begrudgingly participates most times, though Yamamoto is almost sure he enjoys them at least a little.

They make Tsuna happy, that will be enough for Gokudera. Usually. He laughs, then shrugs his shoulders .] I don't think they hurt? [Is it? Yamamoto did not think of this, there has never been a two man huddle before so it could be?]

But, doesn't he respond to your moods? [He knows Gokudera does not love every one. He knows he cares about some people more than most for sure. Uri is like Gokudera with cat ears in his opinion. He likes the little guy!]

Ah, but you are [He thinks about his wording here because he is not out to offend.] passionate, so is Uri.

It's not a matter of it hurting. [Reluctant though he seems, he opens his arms, elbows bent, and expression uncertain. Won't it be like... Yamamoto put his arm around his shoulder, and then... It's totally an embrace! He steps forward and turns to face the other, then reaches up for Yamamoto's shoulders. This is dumb, but fun, so yeah... he enjoys it?]

No... The stupid cat just wanders around and steals food, and bites me if I pet it. [He doesn't understand that kittens want to play all the time.] It's always like... the opposite of me.

[No offense taken. He just gives a gentle scoff of disagreement and shakes his head. That cat of his is more driven by food and play than anything. Gokudera is only similar to cats in how he's a bit fickle and likes things on his own terms. Or... maybe in that he visible bristles when upset, and really loves tuna, and is agile, curious, alert, rebellious... and maybe he and Uri really are very similar.]

[Yamamoto can do nothing more than smile wider when Gokudera actually goes for it. It is more embrace adjacent, no bodies are pressed together, right? Hands are on shoulders, not arms around each other. What it is for sure, a connection. The hands touch his shoulders as his follow suit on Gokudera's. Leaning forward till their heads are centimeters apart. Okay, so two people does leave a lot less space in the middle than he realized. Oh...it is an embrace. He is going to not mention a thing about that and instead give his friends arms a squeeze and repeat their battle chant. It is nice, it feels like home, it has been too long since he got to do this with any of them.] Vongola fight!

[It really does feel better. It's a fun, simple yet bonding gesture that brings a peace to the soul.] But, Gokudera, wouldn't you bite someone if they petted you? I don't think he wants to hurt you.

[It seems logical, Yamamoto imagines petting Gokudera would be a very bad thing to do. Same as he would cautiously pet Uri if he was to try at all. But, he can guarantee he never sees a cat, especially a sassy one that does not remind him of the other.]

[There is enough distance that it's not as though they're hugging, but one-on-one like this, they could even probably rest the crown of their heads together. It's odd, but mostly good fun. Gokudera's even grinning as he squeezes Yamamoto's arms in return.] Vongola fight!

[He even gives a little laugh when they separate. It has been a while. Feels good, dude! Gokudera takes a little step back, his stance a little more open and easy, even as his expression shifts back into something relatively detached and cool.]

That depends on who. [It only seems to be an issue with him. They're similar and opposite all at once, or maybe Uri is just more honest.]

I bet you if I let Uri out right now, you could pet him without being scratched or bitten.

[Definitely fun! When it gets a little laugh from his friend Yamamoto feels like he won the lottery. Getting Gokudera to relax is one thing. Getting him to laugh without Tsuna around is a different bag of bones, one he is glad he shook.

Yamamoto smiles at the familiar expression, his hands propping on the back of his head.]

Oh, you think so? [Then again, Gokudera does not scratch him much any more. Maybe it is Uri responding to how Gokudera feels? If Yamamoto is not making him riled, maybe Uri would not be riled. It is not that Uri is more honest but definitely more open about how she really feels.]

[He'll just deny that that ever happened, thanks. The laugh was a bit of a test, a little shocked out of him from how ridiculous it felt to do that huddle. He almost seems embarrassed, thus the cool exterior. Thank god Yamamoto's not pointing anything out.]

I know so. I think he does it because I'd rather have that attention, so... [Coniving cat is a slut for attention if it will rile Gokudera up. He crosses his arms, maybe not as upset as he seems.] It's just to make me jealous. [And a jealous Gokudera is desperate and readily presents flames, catnip, and snacks. It's all a plan to get snacks!]

Uri is manipulative. [Gasp! He should have realized it sooner!]

[Deny all he wants, it is a memory Yamamoto is sure to treasure. He knows when to poke and when not to. Gokudera compromised and did the huddle, the least he can do is not being Mr. Point out what you're hiding right now. It's not that he does not notice.] [Yamamoto chuckles as Gokudera works through Uri's intentions out loud. His head shifts to the side as he seems to think it over a moment. Manipulative? Well, no, he is just a cute cat who wants attention. He's got spunk! If there is a glimmer of good to find, Yamamoto is going to find it. He can not help himself. Besides, when it really counts, Uri works perfectly with Gokudera he would not do that with anyone else. Wait, would that mean that he is manipulative? Sneaky cat, he definitely does not get that trait from being Gokudera's box. That has to be a cat thing, he is sure.] I want to say you're wrong but you might not be, he is a cat. But, he's good when it counts, right?

Yes. Uri is a good weapon.

[And odd, compared to most. No one else has a box weapon that steals human food. Technically, they don't even need to eat! Uri is powered by his energy, his dying will, after all! What a waste of food to let a storm box weapon have it... but damned if Uri isn't the cutest out of all the animals, in Gokudera's totally unbiased opinion.]

And... as a cat... very convincing. [When charged up with sun flames, Uri is even nurturing to him, as if he were its kitten.]

Huh? [He knows they are not real animals in the rational sense but that was cold, even for Gokudera. Yamamoto is a hundred percent sure the other did not mean it, he doesn't want to admit to a real attachment to the adorable cat.

Yamamoto knows he feels Kojiro and Jiro as his companions, his partners in battle. He laughs, shaking his head a bit as he does. Of course Gokudera would not want to say that.]

Now now Gokudera, he's more than a weapon, I have Jiro and Kojiro, I know how it is.

Good where it counts. [He clarifies. Gokudera never saw his own worth past what he could do for his boss. In that same sort of sense, he has a hard time thinking of Uri past the function of a weapon, even though it acts like a cat. He does have a hard time admitting how enamored he can be with the kitten. He... loves cats. It's part of where the bitter tone comes from. Every time he sees Uri, he wants to coo and snuggle the feline, but of course, that's only what he wants. It's inconsiderate, especially when the weapon would rather not be smothered with affection. So... it's easier on both the boy and the cat if no one sees how they snuggle when Gokudera's alone at home. Both he and Uri are very much tsundere.]

... [There's a challenge in his expression. He's not admitting anything, even if he does agree. Why is his box weapon so odd compared to everyone elses? It's not like Yamamoto has a puppy who wanders around and steals food and destroys furniture. Gokudera looks thoughtful again, turns his face away while considering. Maybe he's assuming too much.]

How does your dad feel about your [Clears his throat] pets? [He imagines the senior Yamamoto would probably get along with them just as well as his son. The baseball idiot leads such an active lifestyle, Jirou probably fits in seamlessly. The dog probably even joins him on his morning jog.]

Oh...[He blinks, some part of him knows from reading Gokudera as they speak now that it is more than he thought. He respects the boundary, this time. He knows when to poke and when not to. Some things, like a persons worth to you are easier to show. Conversation can only do so much and friendship is more, worth more and takes more.

Well, his could have went ape crap like Tsuna's did the first time. Then it responds to Tsuna's moods. The same as Yamamoto's seem to respond to his, they are connected. Bonds tie them all both their animals and themselves together into a family.]

He doesn't like them in the shop, I have to sneak them into my room. But he plays with them when he thinks I'm, not looking. [He laughs here, because of course we all know he does. It is easy to imagine the three trying to slip through Yamamoto's while dodging his dad. The comedy would be priceless.]

[He'll give a small, curious lift of an eyebrow at that. Yamamoto's not pushing it, that's good. No one needs to know that Gokudera and Uri can't be still while they sleep. It's either snuggle tight, or look like a crumpled piece of paper. Uri is adorable, he's not. They're totally different in that way.

Yamamoto seems to have had the easiest time getting along with his animals... but if they take after their person and act on the same kind of temperament, it's not much of a surprise. The animals are easy to get along with and as amicable as the Rain Guardian. Still, Gokudera will pout about it because... it's still annoying and feels unfair.

He idly wonders if his future self had an easier time with Uri. Probably... It's not like he'd have had teenage hormones and the rise of the family to deal with as well as a cat... but Uri is growing with him. The whole family is growing. It's a point of pride.]

Tch, of course. [They're not service animals. Hell, they aren't even real animals in that they don't need to eat or go to the bathroom. It's a fun mental image of Yamamoto tying to sneak the animals about in his own home.

His expression softens as he looks off into the middle distance, just... staring and feeling fond of his weapon for a moment. No shame in being happy that his mun never has him truly alone.]

It's good to have a pet. My mun will definitely bring Uri in, even if I come in from some odd point in our story [Our meaning the family, of course.] she'll find a way. [He just gets so restless if he doesn't have some responsibility, someone or thing to look after and spend too much attention on.]

[Not yet Gokudera, not yet. If he thinks it is weighing too much or he is not doing enough to show it, he'll poke the beast then. Actions first for this, words later. It to Yamamoto is a sound plan.

The mun agrees, it can be unfair how easily Yamamoto gets along with most any one. For any one who has trouble opening up it is easy to see how it could be annoying to watch him easily open and connect with people. If asked Yamamoto would bet the older Gokudera is really amazing, after all, even at their age this version is pretty amazing.

He would also argue that ALL attributes are shared between the box and owner, adorableness included. Just pointing that out. Yamamoto honestly does not think about them not needing to eat or any of the normal things and treats them both as pets, including meal, exercise and play times. It is his nature, his runs are also more fun with the two of them along.

The young swordsman has been trying to be less intrusive, he wants to keep Gokudera here, the softened expression draws him in though. He watches Gokudera with a thoughtful expression of his own, it is the softness around the eyes that gets him the most. He can not stop the edges of his lips turning upward in happiness. He likes this look on his friend.]

Right, it is! Mine too. He wants to take me after the boxes, during one of the back and forth trips from the future for sure but maybe not before the big fight. [Yamamoto is so happy to hear Gokudera call Uri a pet, that he rather he meant to opened up enough to say it is like a little treasure to tuck in his pocket. He knows, no matter what it means that our means a lot to Yamamoto. It is nice to know his friend is going to try and join him. He appreciates Gokudera and his mun.]

[They both tend to communicate best through action, and maybe it's their similarities in that regard that makes them such a formidable force when they work together.

If Gokudera asked and heard anything about himself being amazing, he'd probably blush, scoff, and act modest. He's... got a lot of growing to do. While he doesn't dislike himself, he's a bit too harsh on himself, impatient with his own growth, and much too focused on what he wants rather than what he may be capable of.

They could argue all day. Gokudera and Uri act polar opposite because they are so similar. Where opposites would attract, the boy and his cat repel each other... at least in a balancing sort of way. There's always some give and take. One can't be calm while the other is disruptive. In that way... there's always some kind of storm brewing.]

One of the back and forth trips... [What a mouthful.] We have so many big fights. Which one are you even referring to? [Seriously, Gokudera's always just going home to their correct timeline and BOOM. New world, lots of strangers, some weird premise. It's enough to make him feel like he's being put through some training programs.]

[That is truth, they are powerful young men on their own. When they work together they are more so. The mun thinks that the two of them in the future probably make one amazing tag team, look how well they do together when still finding their feet as partners in ~~crime~~ ]

[He is bound to hear it if he sticks with Yamamoto, he has a tendency to speak his mind. They both have some growing pains, Yamamoto needs to be more serious, Gokudera less, they balance yet again. Much the way Gokudera and Uri do, will be interesting to see how Uri reacts to Kojiro and Jiro species considered.]

[Yamamoto looks away from Gokudera, the weight of that question is more than he wants to bear right now. It is so nice just being for a moment that he is hesitant to let it go. It was the reason for his blabbering, round about mentioning of his canon point being considered. Finally, he takes a breath, he got through it once, he can do it again. He knows he can, however can he do it without the first Rain Guardian or his friends? They saved him mun, he wants you to remember that. He does not look back at his friend as he answers. The line of his shoulders is clearly stiff as he tries to take a it's not big deal tone.]

He wants to take me right after the Choice battle.

[It's odd how so many people think they don't tend to get along. Sure, they don't exactly act like typical best friends, but there is more respect and understanding for Yamamoto than Gokudera shares with anyone of the other Guardians.

Gokudera has realized through many of the games he's been in, with many different Yamamotos to never take any of them for granted. It's... rare for someone to pay much attention to him, or even want to be around him. If Gokudera were a more honest and open person, he'd probably fire off some more compliments and they'd both end up in the same blushing scenario they'd been in earlier.

Good thing he's keeping his more positive comments to himself.

Not to say that he likes this shift in the baseball idiot's demeanor. Gokudera sighs, knowing he brought this on and feeling a bit guilty for it. If he had more power, more influence, he'd try his best to make sure that Yamamoto could never be a part of their family for his own well-being in all aspects. He's just... got other things he should focus on, and having to watch someone die is sobering...

Being raised in the mafia has gotten the bomber accustomed to what would usually make a good person like Yamamoto feel... the way he clearly does.]

It's a good thing we changed that future from turning out like that. [Chin up, Yamamoto. Don't focus on that, or the fact that as a natural-born hitman, there will be many many more people to come whose lives you will have to take for the sake of the family.]

[Those are people who do not look beneath the surface, they see a couple teenagers and assume what you see is what you get. In some respects it is, it also plays in their favor as people tend to underestimate them and what they are capable of when they team up.

A truth event or situation should happen some time. Then they can turn colors together, it would be adorable and quite possibly a little hilarious. It is not Gokudera's fault, if anything his presence eases some of it, makes it easier to face.

He should be a major league baseball player but he would not change his choice even given the option. Even knowing what the future holds, he will still do his best to be there for his friends. The only thing he would change is how he initially reacted, he is disappointed in himself for not being stronger at that moment.

Gokudera definitely has a better handle on how to respond to the things they have to do. His fingers clench for a moment, his own war waging. He will not let Gokudera feel guilty for his mun's choice and that means, he has to suck it up.

Gokudera should know him well enough to note the smile is not quite as bright as usual but the elbow that props on his shoulder, that is as friendly as always.] Right! Besides, we've been through it already, we can do it again.

[Ironically, the one who everyone would think is least suited personality wise (Except maybe Tsuna) to be a hitman is the natural. He will get over the hump of this reality, he always has. Thankfully it looks as if he will have his friend at his side to help him do it.]

[Yamamoto's truly got the upper hand in being underestimated. Anyone who has ever seen the look on his face when he picks up anything like a baseball, or has to be serious is in for a real shock. Gokudera would even admit that he's been fearful at that intensity the other boy's countenance takes on. It's cool, though. It's not losing him any points.

There's just so much potential in both of them, and Gokudera feels that while it is amazing they have someone like Yamamoto, and he's proud of him. It's... kind of a shame that such a positive, wholesome, good person like him is going to be in the mafia, pretty much labeled for the rest of his life as a killer. It may be for the good of Yamamoto's friends, but... that doesn't change what the mafia is like.

Unless the Tenth can change it. Which, of course he can. Gokudera needs to stop getting so stuck in what the challenges ahead could be and instead focus on how many the family has overcome, what they're capable of.

[This is a fact and lucky for him, after all he quietly works hard at gaining points with Gokudera. His friendship with Tsuna was seamless, it just happened because Tsuna has an open heart like Yamamoto. Gokudera takes more, luckily he applies that "scary" determination to everything or he may never have been able to call the bomber his friend.]

[Another fact, no surprise with how smart Gokudera is. One thing he will be reminded of as they grow. It does not matter what label the world places upon Yamamoto Takeshi, it does not matter what trials, guilt, indecision he faces. He will rise, stronger, true to himself and what he believes. The same as they all do, because he has his friends at his back. Also, it may falter, it may shine a little less brightly for a moment but, he will never lose his smile. When it slips, they always pick it back up for him. He will grow, he will change because of the world they are in but his core, in truth his heart, will remain the same, Yamamoto will never fail to put it back together stronger than it was when it got cracked because he will never truly break.

While it sucks to see a good person brought into a world of darkness, it helps to shine a brighter light, it helps the sky push back, allowing the sun to shine.]

[It's Yamamoto's turn to blink, he feels the eyes upon him and as they cut away they will see amusement fill his eyes. ] Sorry...

[He knows he let himself get down, even for a second and in that second Gokudera filled the void and reminds him what matters. His smile is full wattage as the elbow goes to an arm around the shoulder. As close to a side hug as he dares with Gokudera. Closer than anyone else would most likely attempt.] You're right, it's going to be amazing. Man, I'm getting kind of excited!

[Friendship with Gokudera is definitely not an easy feat for anyone, and while he may not admit it, Yamamoto is as close to a friend as he's ever gotten. Sure, there are the other Guardians who he bonds with in different ways, but no one really understands him as well as the baseball idiot, or rather, no one is looking through the bravado as well.

It doesn't hurt that Reborn has shared some of Gokudera's personal information.

Yamamoto is only human. Gokudera won't be hard on him for not having an honest smile, no matter how strong it is. It's easy enough to see when it doesn't reach the baseball idiot's eyes. There's a lot of laughter and smiles, a lot of strength provided by the Rain, but Gokudera knows why. They're family, and he'll do his best to help Yamamoto, because in the long run, that helps the Tenth... and as Yamamoto has said... it's what friends do.]

Tch. [What's with the apology. He's just gonna scoff that away, because it's pretty unnecessary.]

You should! We'll get the family together.[Have an honest smile in return, Yamamoto. He can't wait to see his boss again, and now that they have something of a plan, they're that much closer to achieving their goal. He's excited, too.]

[Ah the beauty of youth, knock them down and they bounce back again. They know there are harder times ahead. They know they are going to face danger and heartache. But, here they go, facing it with smiles on their faces and excitement in their veins. Who but the optimistic youth can do this?

There is a short laugh, he knows what the scoff is for. He does not retract his apology but he knows the meaning and it makes him happy. They have come further than he realizes some times, him and Gokudera. It is nice when he is reminded.]

Oh! I almost forgot, we found Tsuna, kind of. [Meaning his mun tagged a Tsuna on a meme and since everything is fair game here he can tell Gokudera.]
