Fantastic Beasts Era-Albus Dumbledore at the helm
Dear Mun,
While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I think perhaps the creation of this journal was a tad premature. For starters, I will not be appearing at my current age for quite some time -- I believe it was a year, they said? The photo of the cast was only just released a mere few hours ago.
And yes, I understand that you have the books to guide you, but one never knows what they might do with the films. As much as I have faith in your attention to detail, adaptations are rather tricky businesses.
That said, I am flattered by your eagerness. I merely hope you can be patient during the wait.
Regards,
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, 1927

Have a surprised Hermione :)
You look so...different. Did you use a time turner?
It's quite dangerous you know, coming this far forward in time. Who knows what the ramifications could be.
[I mean it's Professor Dumbledore. Of course he knows, but still...]
Hermioneeeeeeee!!!
I'm quite sorry, but I'm afraid I don't believe we've met.
[With a smile, he adds:] And I'm afraid there's no trickery with regards to the time, either. This is simply me, and how I look, and what time I am in.
I take it you are one of my students, Miss...?
:DDD
[She cocks her head to one side in confusion.]
So if you're not time travelling, then how is it that you can talk to me from the past? Is it a kind of advanced communication spell? I've read through most of the advanced spell books in the Hogwarts curriculum and a couple
a LOTfrom the library, and I haven't come across this particular one. It must take immense power and concentration. Perhaps there's something you have to fixate on to make it easier? Or are you drawing power from a nearby source?[She's musing to herself now trying to work it out...]
[Then she remembers he asked her a question.]
Oh I apologise Professor! I'm Hermione Granger, third year witch at Hogwarts.
[She pauses, and a look of panic comes across her face.]
Perhaps I shouldn't have told you that...oh no, I hope our conversation hasn't caused a temporal paradox...
no subject
[Glancing about, he says with a genial smile:] Oh, I imagine that the fabric of time is too sturdy a thing to be undone by one mere paradox. I imagine whatever we're experiencing now is some sort of magic, one unfamiliar to us both. But if it is, it does seem to be quite a fascinating kind, doesn't it?
no subject
That's a relief, thank you Professor.
It must be a very powerful magic, to transcend decades. You'd need an anchor point at both ends to keep it stable I'd assume. Perhaps I could research it at my end, and if you find anything at your end you could let me know? Surely there must be something written about this kind of phenomenon.
[Hermione is getting fired up, thinking about which sections of Hogwarts library would be the best to look at and mentally listing the various categories it could fall under.]
no subject
[He gets the sense this is a much stranger phenomenon than even the great authors of the Hogwarts library will have tackled, but it doesn't seem to unnerve him. If anything, that only piques and delights him. What a magnificently odd situation!]
I will do my very best to look into it, though I admit this is a situation I don't believe I've ever heard mention of before. But I suppose I should not be so vain as to assume that we are the first to have ever encountered this particular curiosity.
no subject
Well, every curiosity rightly has to have a 'first instance', so to speak. Even if this is the first one documented, I'm sure that we'll find something that can tell us what has caused it, and perhaps isolate and recreate it in a more controlled environment?
no subject
We'll simply have to put our own cunning to the test to see what we can find and replicate it as best we can. I imagine all sorts of wizarding minds would be delighted to have something like this to observe.
no subject
Er...Professor, could I get your permission to access the Restricted section of the library? I mean, it's unlikely that there will be anything in the Unrestricted section given that this type of magic if indeed it is magic has an vastly greater potential of being abused? I promise that I won't remove anything from there, and Madam Pince can monitor me the whole time...
[Hermione looks hopefully at Professor Dumbledore.]
no subject
Though I suppose my handwriting will likely not change too drastically over the years, after all, barring some terrible hand injuries of some kind.
no subject
Thank you so much Professor!
To be honest, I'm not sure she'd notice...not that she doesn't pay attention I mean! It's just that she seems to always be extremely busy cataloging and rearranging. The library does have a terribly large amount of books.
[Hermione backpedals, not wanting to sound rude or like she was criticizing Madam Pince's work.]
no subject
Not to worry, Miss Granger, I understand your meaning. Madam Pince is a busy woman. I can write your permission slip, though I might create some excuse if she questions it too deeply. Tell her it's an assignment I gave you myself, and she might not ask much further.
