You could gain strong allies for our people by this, but yours is a duty too vital to let yourself be delayed by any sort of foolishness. It's good to see you understand that.

I'm not entirely on board with breaking people. Just to make that clear. I'm also not sure any of these people are worth bringing in. Not to mention the fact that the only mutant in here is, well. Not one of the good guys.

I guess this is a good thing. The more boring I am, the more likely I'll be able to get back to doing what really matters.

Your temperance is commendable, but never forget that you are a soldier now, John Proudstar. Even if you would be content with being a shepherd alone, you fight in the war for our people's survival. And while some enemies can be reasoned with or cowed, there are others who understand only greater force.

There is a purpose to your unwilling sabbatical, even if neither you nor I see it yet. I'll admit, it took me some time to come to terms with my own.
