But so is relaxing. Having an adventure or two. When was the last time you did something that had nothing to do with probending?

Well I'm not done yet, geez!

[ patience, mako! korra stands at the edge of the pond, hands on her hips as she rolls her eyes at his clumsy attempts. yeesh, you'd think he'd never gone swimming before.

but whatever, after a moment she slides into a stance, arms held out before her. a deep breath, and then she's moving, shifting gracefully from foot to foot, letting her arms flutter out before her. the water around mako suddenly shifts, pulling and pushing against the force of her bending and soon enough he'll find himself carried by the gentle currents, cradled and rocked as if in lullaby, but the tempo is too fast, and it's more like one large slip-n-slide than a baby's cradle. ]

[Why did he ever let you on the team. Oh, because he didn't have a choice. And he can swim fine, thanks, considering the ring is surrounded by water. Not that he makes a habit of getting pushed off. He's just not prepared for the water to move.

Humiliated horror settles onto his face when she manipulates the pond, sloshing him around like a toy.]

Stop it! It's not-- [Pbbt, furiously spits out water from his mouth. He doesn't enjoy looking like a drowned rat.] This is stupid!

[ she drops her hands with an exasperated look, effectively making all the water around him still. ]

Oh, c'mon! All the little kids loved this back home!

[ she's seriously starting to consider he's actually allergic to fun. ]

[Swimming for shore with even strokes, he lifts himself out and shakes water off irritatedly.]

Maybe Bolin would find that fun, but I'm not big on being messed with.

korra just sighs. she lifts her arms, and with a casual flick of her wrists, all the water on mako is flung out, leaving him bone-dry. ]

Whatever, I give up. Have fun with that perpetual stick up your butt, huh? Apparently that's how you firebenders start a fire.

[ with another flick of her wrist she turns away, stalking back towards the room. ]

[Gee, thanks. He pats down his dry clothes and shoots a look at Korra, who is (incidentally) already turning away from him.]

[... After a few moments of frustrated sulking, he follows, since, well. That room is kind of where he and Bolin spend their time training.]

[ she's part of the team too, right? waterbending's her niche, but she's still got to get used to being in that arena. casually, she draws up a stream of water from the pond outside, manipulating it before her to act like some sort of water whip. ]

My point is, if you're planning to train, then do it. Or else go home. We need to get ready for the championship.

[SORRY KORRA, he's an ass. Though he admits to himself Korra's a vast improvement to the team compared to their last waterbender, she still could improve on a few things. Like getting all the rules of the game down.

He eyes that whip of water. Don't be smacking him now.]

and that's a withering glare she sends your way, bud. that whip is looking more and more lethal the more she works on it. ]

He takes the brunt of it with his left forearm, teeth gritted, and sends a blast of fire at her with his opposite hand in retaliation.]

[ yeah, that fire? easily deflected with a hand. some residual flames remain along her fingertips, but they're easily shaken off. she takes a step forward, slamming her foot into the ground just to elevate the earth just beneath him - just enough to knock him off balance. ]

What's your problem, anyway? Did you forget I'm doing you guys a favor?

[ she, at least, has the grace to look abashed. oh right. just waterbending. she slides a step back, letting the earth level out again, but her defenses are up now, hackles raised. ]

We're on the same team, Mako. It wouldn't hurt you to be a little nicer. I'm here to help you guys, remember?

[ well, also because probending is just the coolest thing ever - but that too! ]
