It's fine like this. Sure, it would be nice to see some of the others, but... at least Froud is there. Even if he's a devil, that's something.

Unless they're Konoe, who's been pretty stuck with the lesser of two (d)evils since he got his curse maybe-sorta-kinda lifted back home.]

A devil is a devil. [Which comes out sounding like a very long 'duh'.] But, if we're stuck in the same difficult situation... it's better to work together. Probably.

[The belated 'probably' is not so much because Konoe doesn't believe it, but because he's still surprised himself that he does mean it. He's so used to doing things on his own.]

Oh... can't a devil become an angel if you're really really nice to them? [ It seems a little frightening to Marshmallow, having to meet a bunch of new people and then have the one person you do know be a devil. ]

Is- is it a very scary place you're going to go to? [ Marshmallow is always on his own but he doesn't have to go on any adventures... he probably wouldn't do very well on those! ]

... I don't think that's how it works.

I'm already there. I don't know about scary... [It is to him, very much so - or it was at first. But that's not something he'll admit if he can help it, though.] It's just that I'd never seen humans before. There are no real cats there, and a lot of monsters... Also: there's a lot of mating.

Monsters? Really? Are- are you a cat too? [ Marshmallow glances up at the taller male's ears curiously... real cats? Before blinking and shyly covering his reddening cheeks. Mating.

Well, Marshmallow knows what that means even if he has as much experience as you'd expect; none. But now he's more than a little shy! ]

I... I heard that's fun though. People like that!

What else would I be? [Marshmallow is too nice to be mean to him, but Konoe is a little frustrated all the same. Nobody seems to believe that cats are... well, like him! Regular people, with furry ears and a long tail. (He doesn't mention the tail. It has a crooked tip and he hates it.)

And yes. Mating. Thankfully Konoe managed to get some (okay, a single) experience before ending up in sin city, but he's still not entirely above embarrassment, himself.]

It is... It kind of is. [It had been intense, and it had felt great... and then everything had returned to normal. Rai had all but pretended like nothing had happened, and Konoe had felt lonelier than he'd ever remembered feeling in his entire life.

Rai didn't even come to the city with him, so Konoe should just forget about the whole thing. There's no point in thinking about it anymore. Still, he feels stupidly hurt.]

It's just, the cats I've seen are a lot smaller and fluffy. I-I'm sorry... [ Marshmallow knows he's not especially smart and this is probably a different type of cat that he's never seen before! He smiles nervously up at him and decides that's probably what it is. ]

Your ears are so pretty! [ He doesn't have to wear a bow in his hair to look pretty, he already has those cute ears. Marshmallow is shy discussing this subject though... he fidgets with the frilly bottom of his dress.

He's blushing brightly, his usual rosy cheeks now flushed red. ] Do- do you have to do things like that, over there? [ He's secretly glad his mun doesn't make him go to such a place! R-right? ]

... I've seen those too, now. [Presumably they're the Cats his species descended from, but that's still strange. They're so incredibly small, it's hard to believe they're fully grown!

Then Konoe gets complimented, and suddenly everything feels awkward, his ears flattening a little. He's fine with how he looks... mostly. But being complimented never makes sense to him. He's not used to it.] N-Not really... They're just a normal color.

[His looks being the center of attention this way is just plain discomforting, but Konoe doesn't mind talking at all.] It's not like you have to... There's just a lot of it happening, it seems.

I wish I had kitty ears but- but I'd probably look even sillier with them. I'm funny looking as it is! [ Marshmallow smiles nervously before looking up at him again, more and more grateful that he's allowed to stay in this nice place, getting to meet new people, instead of having to go to a strange new place where people mate a lot. He's more interested in eating sweets! ]

M-maybe you can say no if- if someone asks. [ He fidgets some more, trying to help with what limited understanding he has. ]

I don't think you're funny looking. You look like any other human, right?

[Maybe that's a matter of opinion, but it's true enough in Konoe's opinion - presuming Marshmallow is human, anyway. Konoe has little enough experience with humans; he honestly can't say much about other species.]

Of course I can say no! [There are just... circumstances. Often.] I wouldn't do that kind of thing with just anybody.

R-really, you think so? [ Marshmallow is human but... he's a little strange looking but it makes him awfully happy to hear he looks like any other human! ]

That's good! Things like that are special, right? [ Special like having birthday cake only on your birthday or- or something? He really has no idea! It sounds almost scary and most of all, he can't stop blushing at all now. ]
