On the new trailer...
Yes, I know you're probably going to need a massive canon update in every single game I'm in. I know you had no idea I was capable of saying that out loud. I suppose it is amusing to know that I can still surprise you.
No, it's not physically possible to scream continuously until January 1st.

[Furitive look.]
Right. Of course. Sorry about...all those times before.
no subject
Those were a lot of times.
[But he's not angry about it.]
Whatever this is, I'm sure we'll get through it. If I can forgive you for faking your death, I'm sure I can forgive you for anything.

[Sometimes Sherlock is so exasperating.]
You are a very brilliant man. And sometimes also an idiot.
[When it comes to the most human things, Sherlock hasn't a clue.]
no subject
Besides, a bit of suffering is good for building character, or so they say.
[Annnnd he's back at being bad at the human thing again.]
no subject
And no, I try not to think about it too hard. Having people know my future makes my head hurt.
no subject
Indeed. That seems like it could get annoying after awhile.
no subject
Though, having new story means you must be doing your job right to have it continue on, right? I hope it's a good one. Or at least interesting.
no subject
I'd certainly like to think so. And it's certainly never boring. Which is good for me.
I don't believe we've met before. I'm Sherlock Holmes.
no subject
[A proper, confident smile.]
The Sherlock Holmes or a namesake? We do still have classical literature when I'm from. James Kirk. Call me Jim.
no subject
The Sherlock Holmes. Good to meet you, Jim.
[He seems happy to be recognized from another world, even if it is from just a book. Sherlock's ego didn't need any more boosting. But he didn't exactly recognize the name, all he knew of Star Trek was that John called him Spock once and there were movie posters that showed up in the Tube sometimes. There was a poster of that one guy who looked a lot like him...]
no subject
[A pause and a frustrated sigh.]
Try being the operative word, there.
[Now this is a treat. Jim can't help the way his grin widens. You meet the strangest people around here, and he is loving every second of this. Even if there's something unnervingly familiar about that face.]
Pleasure's all mine, I'm sure. Is there a lot of work for a detective in a place like this?
no subject
Space. Actual space?
[He gives a shrug.]
Not so many murders I'm afraid. But it's fairly interesting, and I'm sure I'll catch onto a decent case eventually.
no subject
[Jim has a habit of gesturing while he talks. The man must have a lot of energy. He's an easy man to read, most of the time. Virtually telegraphing his thoughts as it occurs to him that Mister Sherlock Holmes doesn't come from a time of space travel, he's pretty sure.]
It's been a thing for a while now, but I'm from Earth's 23rd century. Sorry. Didn't mean to drop that on you.
no subject
...space. The 23rd century. Naturally.
Fascinating.
[It's not sarcastic, but a bit wry. He really is fascinated, he finds this whole business to be curious and interesting. Jim seemed to be quite passionate about it all. He wasn't difficult to read.]
no subject
You sound like my first officer. I think you two would get along.
no subject
[He's not sure if he's being made fun of or not.]
no subject
We make a good team.
[Jim is not logical, not methodical. He thinks on his feet, is reactionary with his plans. It does him good to have Spock there to temper his energy. To focus it when the world isn't ending and they don't need Jim Kirk to be thinking on his feet for the benefit of the entire ship.]
no subject
[She offers a small smile.]
And if you think we didn't know that already, you're only fooling yourself. And maybe Mycroft. But the two of you are in denial about your brotherly affection anyway, so that one's no surprise either.
no subject
Brotherly affection? Please. I can scarcely handle being in the same city as him.
no subject
[Yes, she knows he's here, she's going to say that anyway. Because how is it not true?]
He does like to be dramatic. Sometimes, he's almost as bad as you.
[She only smiles at Sherlock's comments about Mycroft.]
Oh, yes, despise him right up until the point at which you need his help. Though, if their expressions were anything to go by when you handed over your list, you'll probably need my help much more than either of theirs.
[Give her a little credit, she did provide proof that Sherlock wasn't so high he was making cases up.]
Setting that aside, you and John both know my secret, but didn't you learn anything from all of that? From us, I mean. John and I...
no subject
Ugh, honestly. You'll never get him to admit it, either.
[His smirk falters at that, he's quite guilty about his little 'indiscretion' being revealed. It was never supposed to, and he'd been caught off guard.]
Perhaps.
[A long pause.]
Learning? Learning what?
[He goes a bit blank. Talking about emotions and affection and all of that was a little over his head, as much as he was a genius he was still a child in so many ways.]
no subject
This isn't about him. It's about you. [She offers a small smirk.] But if that's an official challenge, Mister Holmes, then I accept.
[Because she likes challenges and well, the Holmes boys are simple compared to the things she's done. Now to the learning bit. Okay, it was a good question she'll take a different tactic.]
Well, you were at our wedding. You saw us make our vows. At the end of the night, you made a vow of your own. People like you and me, we don't make such vows lightly. And however much you try to hide your emotions or affections, I know everything you've done since making that vow has been about keeping it.
[Oh, she was very angry with him that he had tricked her in the empty houses. And she was angrier that he had backed her into a corner and forced her to reveal everything to John. But when she took time to think about it, it was the right thing to do. She knew it was Sherlock's way of keeping his vow. And oddly, it eventually showed the strength of the vows John and Mary had made to each other.]
John and I made vows to each other. And, well I can't speak for John, but for myself? It's why I waited his anger out. I knew neither of you would ever tell anyone about me, unless necessary. I could have ran. John could have ran. But we had made vows. And we both stuck through the difficult times. We're stronger for it.
[Weighted glance.]
But you know that vows have to go both ways, right? I mean, you know that John and I would do the same for you?
no subject
Of course on some level he knew how much John cared for him--and Mary by extension--but to hear it, was another story.]
I...I...
Well, erm. That's....yes. Right.
[Still stammering. He was clearly not used to people being that close to him, besides Mycroft. Or actually saying so.]
Because I don't have access to all my icons...
Oh, Sherlock. You know you're very cute when you're speechless?
Now that we understand each other.
[She's just going to lean over and give him a small peck on the cheek.]
We're all one big family. It doesn't matter to me that we don't live under the same roof.
It's perfect! :3
[He's stunned again when she remarks about family. It takes him a second to gather up his wits to speak.]
You...really consider me family?
Thanks!
[Hey, at least she didn't say 'adorkable'.]
You really have to....
[She shakes her head with a knowing smirk.]
....You do, you have to ask. All this time later. Sherlock, of course you're family. The one positive part of my former work is that I now get to choose my family. You became part of my family when you were still dead. Simply because of John's stories.
no subject
...
[A pause.]
Honestly, even with his poor prose and sensationalist language? Hmph.
[But then he turns serious.]
I shall always be there for all of you. Always.
no subject
Well, the blog did leave something to be desired. But the facial expressions he gave when he told the stories were just the best.
[Oh, and Sherlock turns serious, not that she's surprised.]
That vow is entirely mutual, Sherlock.
[Not that she doesn't like him saying it again. It's good to now.]
So. We know what your mun thinks is going on. Do you have any theories?
no subject
You should have seen his expressions during the actual cases themselves.
[That kind smile again as he nods at her reciprocation. It...helps, hearing her say that too. Especially after all they've been through.]
My theory? There's not enough data yet for anything meaningful. We've been given entirely too many red herrings to trust anything of note. Speculation's only going to trick you into seeing what you want to see.
no subject
[She smiles - Sherlock's genuine laughs are a rare thing to behold.]
It's really for the best. Even with all the talk of "1880s", my mun had guessed what was happening before the Christmas Special aired. Unfortunately for her, it made it one of the most boring episodes ever.
