Nah, nah, dearie. That's where you've got it wrong. I can't re-awaken if I never went away. I was always here - you only just recently started hearing the howling again. You couldn't resist the call if you wanted to.

You think so? Nothing to me seems more natural to a wolf than howling.

Why in hell would I want to do that? And I might be, what's it to ya'?

In my experience werewolves tend to not want people to know they're werewolves. Cos people might decide to kill them. And so what? I hang with a lot of werewolves.

Then it sounds like the humans where you come from need to be put in their place and taught the proper pecking order.

I thought I smelled wolf on ya' - I'm curious now, do you have any magic about you or are you some kind of Muggle?

There're entire families dedicated to kill as many werewolves as they possibly can where I'm from. Slicing wolves into two. They're really problematic for the good weres.

Hmph...yeah, sounds like they got a little too big for their britches. The humans where I'm from may discriminate against us, but they wouldn't dare hunt us down unless they wanted open war. Which, don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to oblige.

[The sarcasm is met with a tilted brow and slight smirk.]

Out Hunters doesn't seem to care. In fact all they care about is killing werewolves, not all the other awful things those werewolves tries to fight. Some humans can be more monstrous than monsters.

I'm pure as snow. Literally. [Feigns innocence]

Then your wolves would be advised to show their fangs and put the fear of God back into those hunters. Let them know that if they even think about raising a weapon against a werewolf, that the consequences will be dire - not so much for them, but for their loved ones. Hit them where it hurts.

Heh, well you're certainly pale enough for it, that I'll give ya'.

You see, that usually gets them killed so it's not very advisable. A few bullets tipped in wolfsbane and werewolves aren't as big and bad any longer. Usually there's a lot of pain, fainting and blood all around.

Pale skin was once seen as very fashionable and noble, I'll tell you.

No denying that, I'm sure. But that's why they need to get clever about it. There's no hunter who can withstand the strength of a good pack. Bullets run out; wolfsbane burns and withers. There would be bloodshed, certainly. But it would go for the cause of establishing the food chain again.

Oh believe me, I know! Still is, in some circles. Combined with your stature though it makes you out to be more of a target than anything. Got a name, kid?

So what, you eat people? Can't you just like, eat hamburgers or something non-sentinet? Coz I think the whole eating humans is why there are hunters, and because of the full moon ailed homicidal drives. Just saying.

Stiles and I'm not a target. I can stuff you full with wolfsbane if I want to. Then you'll be the palest of us two.

[He stares for a good minute before bursting with cruel laughter.]

Relax, kid! I'm not into the whole cannibalism thing, not my game. Sure, I show my fangs, I bite, I crack a few skulls - but I'm more partial to a good burger or steak, maybe some stiff whiskey to wash it down.

As for the last bit, you're welcome to try if you have some sort of death wish. I wouldn't advise it - any other man I woulda' killed on the spot for a threat like that. But you got nerve kid, I respect that.

Right. You had me wondering there with the whole "top of the food chain " thingy. It kinda implies bad, bad stuff for us mere mortals.

I don't like getting threatened either. [He crosses his arms across his chest abd tries to puff up himself. But fails.] I've been through some awful stuff which kinda replaced fear with anger.

Turn of phrase. I mean, if I was in a bind and I had to put someone in their place in front of the pack, I might. But I take no pleasure in cannibalism and nor do I make habit of it.

[He snorts at the bravado, but doesn't ridicule him for it.]

I can respect that. Better to get angry and fight than to cower and run, even if you're outmatched.

Then it's a pretty awful pack that you're a part of. Canibalism may turn you crazy. Ever heard of wendigos?

True. A few years of hell ruins a lot of childhood innocence.

Just saying, if your Alpha or whatever makes you eat a human even though you don't want to, it sounds like a pretty awful pack to me. It's pretty fucked up.
Wendigos are humans turned into flesh eating monsters cos they turned to canibalism. They're addicted to human flesh.

Figuratively ofc. My town draws in a lot of bad supernaturals which goes on murder sprees or worse.

I have no idea what a "muggle" is. Is that some werewolf insult? Cos I've never heard it before. But I'm telling you that even us "muggles" can make a change.

Didn't exactly fall into my lap - most alphas are older, I had to fight my way up. Wasn't a fan of how the old alpha was running my ol' man's pack.

[He chuckles and shakes his head, as if the idea that a single word could offend Stiles amuses him.]

Isn't that how werewolf hiarchy works. [It's more an observations than a question. Stiles doesn't know how werewolf packs really work. Of the ones he has run into only one seemed functional, besides Scott's "pack".]

So it's a racist slur. Doesn't really make me feel much better.

More or less. But where I'm from, not many challenge their alphas.

It's no more a racist slur than calling me a werewolf or you a human, really. All depends on the context. We identify non-magic folk so that we don't expose the Wizarding world and create hysteria. But, if you wanna' take it as an insult, it's none of my business.

Back up a bit, "Wizarding world"? You mean there's a secret world of wizards?
