And even if they do, this is a hobby for you. Don't let anyone ruin your fun.

I don't know why you're reassuring them when they're ripped everything away from you. Isn't there anything I can do to convince her that this whole thing is a bad idea? It's not like my Mundane will help, so it's up to me.

[Despite the fact that his Mundane could always choose to ignore something he wanted to do, which was another fact that pissed him off.]

[Of course Lucifel knows that kicked puppy look. And seeing it now (along with being reminded of what Enoch actually was the last time he made that face) softened his expression a little bit, though he still looked like someone who'd forgotten their umbrella while it was raining.]

I guess it's not like we can rebel against them either.

You know, here, you don't have to deal with God. So, tell me, are you really happy about this?

... I was honest when I said that I don't know. I suppose I'm not unhappy, but not happy either. Even if God can't hear us here, if doesn't mean it's good to doubt Him though. Even this has a purpose, I'm sure...

[Not that Lucifel can't see that Enoch's smile's forced, for better or worse.

Though, with an answer like that (one that didn't really give him any indication as to how he should go about things), all he could do to try and deal with his frustration was run a hand through his hair and let out a little annoyed huff.]

At least you were being honest with me. But, if you're not completely happy about becoming an Angel, you don't have to stay that way. It's not like we know whether or not God had a good reason for this, if any, beyond amusing Himself for a few minutes.

Besides, I think we're fine talking about God here. The only ones listening are our Mundanes and other muses.

Please put aside these thoughts. God must have a reason. He always does.

For better or worse, it makes him look away a little, past Enoch's shoulder as he replies, an odd combination of annoyance and guilt on his face.]

Just because He has a reason doesn't mean it's a good one. It doesn't do us any good if we don't understand it.

Anyway, I'm not doubting. I'm pondering. There's a difference.

[It's not like he didn't know what he'd do if Enoch decided he wanted to be Human again and regretted his decision. The problem was half the fact that Enoch was stuck in decision limbo, which put everything on hold, and the fact that..Lucifel wasn't sure he could just let this slide even if Enoch decided he was fine with it.

He didn't want to be tossed away. And..he hated the thought of someone taking away Enoch's humanity like it was nothing, even if Enoch was fine with it because it was God. So he'd have to act somehow, someday.]

I'm sure we'll come to understand it, eventually. He works in mysterious ways. He always has, and He probably always will.

[And while something hot and acidic wanted to come up out of Lucifel's throat, he managed to shove it back down. At least, until he wasn't looking directly at Enoch anymore. Instead, he was looking down at his chest, trying to avoid his gaze.]

You know, that's what Humans say on Earth nowadays to justify horrible things happening. What, have you lost your curious nature, now that you've transformed?

And of course not. I'm still the same person.

[And since Lucifel was doing his best to avoid looking Enoch in the eye, he didn't quite see that pout, though he did catch it whenever he couldn't help himself.]

Usually, they just say it when something they don't like happens, like people dying for no reason or cities being burned down. Stuff like that.

And no one can grow wings out of their head and still say that they're the same person. No one can suddenly grow messy hair and say they're okay.

Angels change their forms all the time. Just look at Gabriel. She's still the same, no matter which gender she is.

I can't think of any time a Human's said that in the wake of something good happening. Unless you can think of one good reason that God decided to strip you of your humanity.

[Just because Enoch could be as stubborn as a mule doesn't mean that Lucifel will ease up on him.]

Anyway, male or female or whatnot, Gabriel's always been an Angel. That's not really the same thing. It's not like she spontaneously decides to become a Human with free will every now and then.

[And Lucifel noticed that Enoch couldn't think of a single good reason why God had decided to make him an Angel. In any other situation or little banter, he might have smirked, but..he didn't really feel like smirking right now.]

Who knows? I kind of doubt it though. The point though, is that you're not the same person you were. You won't feel hungry anymore. You won't want to sleep or rest. You'll just have to do what God tells you, whether you like it or not.

And it looks like even you can't see anything positive about that.

No, but..knowing the kind of person you are, I didn't think you would be happy just signing away everything that makes you Human. You're not the kind of person to just let others tell you what to do.

Have I not always followed God's orders?

[Except when he was like "nope, no flood, it's cancelled"... But he doesn't think of that as going against God.]

You went against the Council when they were about to flood Earth. Since God would have been fine with that plan if you hadn't intervened, I think that counts.

Besides, you becoming an Angel wasn't an order, as far as I know.

God was also fine with my intervention. I'm sure He'd value my input even now, even if it might go against His initial orders.

I'm trying to say that you aren't really allowed to be stubborn when you're an Angel. If God decided He didn't want your input, and you kept resisting, He wouldn't just let it slide, like He would if you were Human.

[Sigh.]

I'm sure God wouldn't want my personality to change.

Then what do you think He wanted to change about you, Enoch? Your rugged good looks?

[Oh, look. It's a reason for an existential crisis. Enoch will need a moment of just staring at his alternate double.

His humanity is extremely important to him, after all. Why, in the manga timeline, Lucifel once said he was an angel as a prank, and as he indulged the readers with his thoughts of "oh, not really!", Enoch was left staring at his own hands in shock.

Existential crisis, indeed.]
