Crossposted to Dear_Player, voicetesting Mitsun, maybe going to Kyriakos - don't tell him
'Mun'... I don't think that's your proper name.
I have never heard of the Kyriakos land you threaten to send me to, with such a tone of voice if that was some kind of curse or mockery you make of me, but I won't go there. Not unless Lord Hideyoshi sends me there or unless Ieyasu is there, so that my blade can finally reach him.
IEYASU!!! I KNOW YOU'RE HERE, 'MUN' SAYS EVERYONE ALIVE IS HERE!! Show yourself, you coward!!
[no, mun says that here, everyone is alive... but oh, well, people only hear what their brains can process... so don't tell him...]

There's only so much that protesting can accomplish with them.

Y-yes, H-Hanbei-sama! I-I apologise for my shameful behaviour, I--I---I await your judgement and---
B-but the mun, she says some troubling things... that to my memories, she's going to---
[wait, he was not to protest]
[but how can he say that without protesting]
[but Hanbei-sama said not to protest]
[he now has some solid headache]
[though that doesn't stop him from kneeling lower still]

Not at all. Speak freely, Mitsunari-kun. Admittedly, I don't know much about this Kyriakos territory.
What is it that will happen to your memories?
no subject
My memories - would be destroyed, by that Kyriakos place. A mirror... with shards? And I would regain those shards, one by one, by various battles.
[not exactly, but that's his understanding of games]
My mun - even if I'm left with only one memory in the beginning - she's threatening me that if I don't behave myself, I'd forget Hideyoshi-sama! I--- if I can speak freely, I'd rather forget even Hanbei-sama and Yoshitsugu and Ieyasu and Sakon and myself!! Because---
Hanbei-sama, I need to know. If I forget about Lord Hideyoshi's existence... is that treachery?
[because on that, he'd only trust Hideyoshi's or Hanbei's answer]

"If you don't behave yourself"... is that right. [ he may be used to the idea of one being at the whims of a mun, but something about that feels particularly out of line. mitsunari is someone hideyoshi brought up with his own hands– and to have that so suddenly meddled with... well. ]
How unfortunate for her, then, that Hideyoshi's influence cannot be erased so easily... can it?
[ finally, hanbei glances at him, and signals him to rise.
to answer his question: ] I trust in the strength of your conviction, Mitsunari-kun. And that you will find a way to regain yourself, even then. If I had doubts that you could do even that, I couldn't leave the future of the Toyotomi in your hands. Do you understand?

I understand, Hanbei-sama! I won't forget Hideyoshi-sama, no matter what the mun does to me! And... I beg your forgiveness, Hanbei-sama, if I forget you, even for a second. Please tell me how I should punish myself for such a crime, when my memory's back again!

It's hard to believe anyone can hold back such a straight forward personality. [ well, aside from them, of course. ] Even with compromise. Keep an eye out for your opportunities, Mitsunari-kun.
hey, now, Mitsun, don't talk about me like that
Y-yes. I'll seive any and all opportunities to remember, even if I have to debase myself before my mun.
H-Hanbei-sama! Allow me to thank you for gracing my worthless self with your divine presence! I am unworthy - of looking at you... I, who had failed to notice that Ieyasu... that Ieyasu proved to be a viper in our midst. And so, I am unworthy... to stand in your holy presence...
pfft! also, assuming SB4 timeline if that's good
Are you forgetting that I also allowed him his position, Mitsunari-kun? [ ieyasu's defecting wasn't unforeseeable– not to hanbei, anyway, and that's all the more reason he feels he personally should have acted on it sooner. ]
What's done is done, now, however. And Ieyasu-kun has simply become an obstacle we shall overcome eventually.
sure, it's fine. My Mitsun in DRs and memes is SB3, JE, Bloody Angel, SB4 from what translations
[that was true... in other words, Ieyasu's most base treason was a shock even to a being as wise as Hanbei-sama... truly, the depths of Ieyasu's depravity must be unfathomable even to gods and angels in highest Heavens and devils in lowest Hells!!]
[but... was Hanbei-sama, by any chance... blaming himself?! That, too, was Ieyasu's fault, taking advantage, biting the hands that fed him, that depraved--- Ieyasu...!!]
Hanbei-sama, you're not to blame! That depraved Ieyasu surely took advantage of the fact that your health was---!!
[oh, but it's a rule not to say things about Hanbei's health aloud, so Mitsunari inwardly curses himself]
2/2
I thought I knew his heart, I was supposed to---- he said----!!! He said---
[trails off, feeling as if he reopened some wounds in his own soul, that he didn't know were there.]

Mitsunari-kun. [ sharp. before he gets too far. hanbei knows full well how ieyasu's betrayal has affected the man, given that mitsunari … barely seems to try to hide it.
that comment about his health makes hanbei instantly tired of this conversation, though, in spite of his careful composure, save for his low tone. ] That's enough.
There's little point dwelling on it now. I understand that Ieyasu-kun's... [ he holds back a sigh ] change of character has left you troubled, but you cannot allow it to cloud your thoughts.
yeah, various routes - so JE, Bloody Angel, and Roar of Dragon are wonderful to me :D
Yes, Hanbei-sama. I apologise for my --- shameful behaviour.
[he thinks he should apologise for something else, too, but he's not sure what that something else is, it's too elusive and he can't put it into words while wallowing in shame]
