Erza's reaction to chapter 484

[After what happened to her in that chapter, Erza's standing there with a blank look on her face, blushing heavily while trying to process it.]

[All sorts of thoughts are whirling through her head - "Where did that come from?" "Wait a minute, was that my first kiss?" "How's it going to work with three of us?" - so she's having a bit of trouble speaking at the moment.]

[So, how do you think Gajeel and Mirajane's team is going to do?]

[What about Eileen being raised in Ishgar? That seems like it could be pretty important.]

I... uh... [It suddenly hit Erza how many people were there to see it - Juvia alone means that she'll probably never hear the end of it, and Milliana's confusion must mean that Kagura's guild didn't know either.] That... was unexpected. [Which is an understatement - not even Carla saw it coming.]

I-It wasn't your fault or anything!

[Kagura sucker punched Erza with that kiss! Sucker kissed? Stealth kissed? Surprise attack kissed? Were any of these things actually... a thing?]

[Well this is awkward...]

[Oh gods, she couldn't possibly ask if Kagura was a good kisser!]

[She couldn't ask why she kissed her either, that was probably personal!]

Are you okay?

[Even if she asked, Erza certainly couldn't answer that last one - it's a mystery, unless there were signs that she hadn't picked up on.]

I think I'm fine. Once I get those bandages off and help to deal with the remaining Spriggans, then I can sit down with Jellal and Kagura and get this sorted out. [The first two probably weren't happening - look at the state that she's in after taking on two of them - but she feels like it's her duty to help as long as she's still breathing.]

You make sure to let those wounds heal a bit first, okay? I promised I'm going to protect you this time, remember?

[She was still scared, especially after everything she'd been through so far. Perhaps reminding Erza of the promise she'd made to her, was her way of overcoming this.]

I suppose I can wait. Wouldn't want you to break your promise, after all, and you need time to recover too. [They're probably going to need every Dragon Slayer that they can get, since Acnologia's presumably still out there somewhere. Admittedly, Wendy won't need nearly as much time to heal as Erza (not that Erza would admit that - she'd be heading out to battle in this state if she could), but Erza's more concerned for the young mage's well-being than her own.]

Hehe, between all of us... I really think we're going to win this one Erza!

[She actually had been afraid they probably wouldn't, and that she would probably be fighting a losing battle to protect the guild and the people she loved. Yet with the major victories they were achieving, it felt like they were actually on more than even footing with Alvarez now.]

It certainly looks like it. [Sure, there's still August, Eileen, and Zeref to worry about, bare minimum, but they've got quite a few powerful mages who haven't seen serious combat yet, so Erza's confident in their chances.] You did quite well out there, from what I've heard. It's impressive, seeing how much you've grown in such a short time.

[Jellal can't remember ever having seen her this flustered…]

[Well, this just made things more awkward, if that was even possible. What would Jellal think about this? She had been hoping her first kiss would be with him - she had pictured it in her head for years, and they came so close before Jellal came up with that fiancee story - and then this came out of nowhere.

The situation between Jellal and Kagura was complicated enough as is without this thrown into the mix. She'd tell him later, but at the moment, she had no idea how to deal with this, let alone how to tell Jellal about it.]

I'm... um, I'm okay. Just a little feverish - guess my wounds were worse than I thought. [An obvious lie, but it's all she could come up with on the spot.]

[Well, Jellal would think that above everything else Erza deserves to be happy. If her happiness lies with Kagura, he certainly won't stand in the way of that!

The lie is obvious, but for now he won't press.]

If you are sure… better lie back again.

[She won't recover, if she doesn't rest after all.]

[Erza certainly doesn't want to take away any chance that Kagura has at happiness, given that she holds herself responsible for Simon's sacrifice, but at the same time, she refuses to give up on Jellal after all they've been through.

It's hard for her to reconcile those two viewpoints; the only solution that she can think of at the moment is "threesome" (based on an eerily similar situation that happened in a smut novel that she read), and who knows how those two would react to that idea?]

I will, but not for too long - I'm still needed out there. [The strongest ones haven't shown up yet, and with Gildarts inexplicably absent, she feels like it's up to her to handle someone like Eileen or August.]

I doubt he's faced a challenge like this before. [Then again, Acnologia's still out there somewhere, and it seems like he'd try to kill whoever wins, regardless of who that happens to be.] I can't believe it, but it actually seems like we can stop him!
